My choice is done, if duke declare next spring, I want him and nobody else withe the dolphins first pick.

This guy is incredible, and with Moreno and Miller we would have a RB corp unstoppable.

Opinions

I think he'd be a great fit. I like him a lot, but right now he's projected more in the 2nd/3rd range. I think he'd be an absolute steal in R3. My favorite running back in this class is Todd Gurley -- I think he has it all, size, speed, blocking, ability to gets yards after initial contact, explosion, power and pass catching ability.

Currently my #4 RB but I only have finals grades on 6.

The scale goes 1.0-8.0 anything below 5 is someone who is less than an UDFA. I've given out 3 9.0's for RARE prospects like Calvin Johnson, Andrew Luck, and Luke Kuechly.

Gurley- 8.0
Gordon- 7.5
Abdullah- 6.9
Duke- 6.7
Karlos- 6.5
Yeldon- 6.3

Duke won't be drafted in the first round...he may not be drafted in the 2nd round. His inability to stay healthy for a full season, his lack of size, the fact that he's never had more than 145 carries in a season or 1000 yards rushing in a season tells me he's not a workhorse. He's a 3rd down back and there aren't too many of those going in the 1st round.

Second or third round back but very special. I remember posting here that nobody cared about losing Lamar Miller early because the Canes had a much better player entering the program.

Duke is starting to regain his explosiveness. He lost a bit after the injury at Florida State last season, and assorted other nicks. Plus he seemed to get a bit heavy for a while. Now he's close to his level of early freshman year.

Great straight arm. In fact, that's the most underrated aspect of his game. It enables extra yards all the time.

Bit of a fumbling problem. That would be my primary knock. He sometimes extends the ball near the goal line and has it knocked out, and otherwise simply loses it more than ideal amidst normal plays.

IMO, Duke is better than the Nebraska kid and is a bit underrated overall. There seems to be a determination to nitpick guys who have been prominent since early in their career. Then the late bloomers are allowed to escape without scrutiny toward why it took them so long.

Canes have a small senior class but could have lots of kids drafted relatively early. Duke and Perryman look like 2-3 types to me. The left tackle Flowers has penalty concerns but I wouldn't be shocked at late first round or into the second. He's a junior but expected to entertain NFL options. Biggest jump of all is by the tight end Clive Walford who is a rare exception to the Miami reputation of not developing players in college. Walford had an odd body type and lots of limitations two seasons ago. Now he looks the part and is making more and more plays, of all description. Of course, it helps to finally have a quarterback with touch.

Philip Dorsett could also be drafted fairly high. He's been more productive this year than many recent Canes who played that spot, like Travis Benjamin and Allen Hurns. Dorsett is an absolute blur. Somewhat fragile.

What do you guys think about Duke's hands? Can he be an electric Darren Sproles, Dexter McCluster type of an X factor? I have coveted one of those guys for Miami for awhile.

Or do you see him with a higher ceiling, like, say LeSean McCoy?

First round pick? Lol at that fanbase

I'd take him in a heart beat but would would rather see him stay for his senior year. His vision is uncanny but the injuries may keep his draft stock down if he comes out early. Another injury free year and he may sneak into the 2nd round.
He's got that kind of talent.

He's good at catching passes out of the backfield. It's actually one of the aspects of his game that really boosts his grade in terms of underclassman backs. Really, it's what he's able to do with the football once he catches it... that's why his average yards/reception throughout his career are unusually high for a RB in comparison to all the other backs who actually catch passes.

3rd/4th rounder in the 75-100 range overall if he comes out early. Explosive on kick returns too as a freshman. I've always liked the kid. Always thought he was a little better than Lamar Miller. Duke can do more on his own than Miller can.

I don't think any rb should ever stay for their senior year if they have the choice. Last thing I would want as a rb is another year of wear on the body. Get paid while you can IMO

PD has ridiculous YPC and YAC stats this year, but IMHO his game won't translate well to the pros. He's fast but lacks size and leaping ability, and he's more of a straight-line guy which I think makes for a pretty easy cover in the NFL. I'd be happy for him to prove me wrong though.

He absolutely is a first round talent. There's no Loling that. It's his lack of health that will relegate him to the middle rounds.

i want to see the preinjury explosion duke johnson tonight...too much first guy putting him down and getting rag dolled on contact in my looks this year...step it up...and i want to see that true freshman tight end for va tech i think his name is bucky hodges...that kids an athlete and a smooth one at that...serious talent there

Keep an eye on Dorsett #4 tonight as well. 6 TD's and averaging 35 yards a catch.
The game vs VT is on ESPN at 8 I believe if any one wants to see Duke in action.

update: Duke 150 yards rushing and 2 TD's in the first half

If Travis Benjamin can go in the 4th round so can Dorsett. They're virtually the exact same player. Low 4.3 speed, overrated as return men, decent hands, loads of experience, & the one area PD is much better at than TB is his lack of mental lapses on the field. You could count on TB doing something stupid on the field at least once a game.
