Second or third round back but very special. I remember posting here that nobody cared about losing Lamar Miller early because the Canes had a much better player entering the program.
Duke is starting to regain his explosiveness. He lost a bit after the injury at Florida State last season, and assorted other nicks. Plus he seemed to get a bit heavy for a while. Now he's close to his level of early freshman year.
Great straight arm. In fact, that's the most underrated aspect of his game. It enables extra yards all the time.
Bit of a fumbling problem. That would be my primary knock. He sometimes extends the ball near the goal line and has it knocked out, and otherwise simply loses it more than ideal amidst normal plays.
IMO, Duke is better than the Nebraska kid and is a bit underrated overall. There seems to be a determination to nitpick guys who have been prominent since early in their career. Then the late bloomers are allowed to escape without scrutiny toward why it took them so long.
Canes have a small senior class but could have lots of kids drafted relatively early. Duke and Perryman look like 2-3 types to me. The left tackle Flowers has penalty concerns but I wouldn't be shocked at late first round or into the second. He's a junior but expected to entertain NFL options. Biggest jump of all is by the tight end Clive Walford who is a rare exception to the Miami reputation of not developing players in college. Walford had an odd body type and lots of limitations two seasons ago. Now he looks the part and is making more and more plays, of all description. Of course, it helps to finally have a quarterback with touch.
Philip Dorsett could also be drafted fairly high. He's been more productive this year than many recent Canes who played that spot, like Travis Benjamin and Allen Hurns. Dorsett is an absolute blur. Somewhat fragile.
