..to EAT SOME CROW when it comes to Daunte Culpepper's status for week #1. I'm looking especially at you, Trey Wingo and Mark Schlereth and all you other ESPN yahoos who proclaimed Daunte wouldn't be ready until week 6 at the earliest. What are you saying now?

Daunte has worked as hard as any player in team history to get to where he is today...the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins in week 1 of the regular season. All those "experts" kept saying how nobody could ever come back from this serious of a knee injury, and how Miami made a big mistake in taking a QB who might not even play half the season. Well I've got two words for you "experts. Admit it...you had no idea what you were talking about, and you completely underestimated the passion and work ethic of Daunte Culpepper.

Now I hope Culpepper will stay healthy the entire season (are you listening, God?), and nobody can predict how injuries unfold. But for now...Daunte has proven all of the naysayers wrong.

GO DOLPHINS!!

It wasn't just those guys. I read a lot of the same crap on this board. "Those guys have had that injury. They know what they're talking about..." Yada, yada.

This is four words...or three words and a bleep.

Obviously you haven't seen the movie "Midnight Run." It's a classic starring Robert De Niro.

No I didn't. But I did graduate from college and I stand by my previous statement. :D

My friend I agree totally...........there are no "experts" in football....those guys just get on there and basically "tell" us whats going to happen...but............its rarely accurate, and NOBODY calls them out for being wrong.........again!!!

Prime example Skip Bayless on the 2003 Fiesta Bowl Miami vs.OSU..." Ohio State plays in what I call the little Ten and wont no what hit them when Miami blows by them by 3 Td's"..............

-And nobody once said hey Skip you sounded so sure what happened?

Uh...so did I. Your point being? I was quoting a movie line. I know how many words I wrote. Jeez.

Those guys themselves would tell you that it is an impossible task to predict anything. They might as well be weathermen with their predictions sometimes. They made an educated guess as to whether or not Culpepper would be wrong. What Culpepper did was amazing, nothing short of it. And maybe they didn't think he was going to put in the time and effort that it took for him to start Week 1. The same injury could have happened to another player, and they might not have put in the dedication that he did. If ESPN offered you guys the same job as those guys, you would take it in a heartbeat. And for anyone who thinks they know everything, I want you to tell me the score of the game Thursday night. The exact score, and if you are wrong, can I come on here and tell you how wrong and stupid you are. It was just a prediction. And one that I am more glad they were wrong on, than if they had been right. What about all the experts picking us to win the Super Bowl, let's hope those guys aren't wrong. Point is, you can never predict anything, you never know what is going to happen.

Starting Week 1 is consistent with the "best case" estimates when he had his surgery. Now, participating in all of the mini-camps was amazing!

Here's a timeline I put together back in May when I was peeved by the same guys saying he wouldn't be ready until October:

My point is that those guys at ESPN declared Culpepper wasn't going to be ready. They made it sound like it was a foregone conclusion. They weren't predicting...they were declaring. And to me, that is just wrong.

Even the most optimistic of fans would have have had a hard time expecting to be their at every training camp practice and playing 3 pre-season games. And even myself am anxious and nervous hoping he does in fact play all 16 games. It doesn't make me a bad fan, or a pessimist, by hoping that. I think as I said, Daunte deserves a huge pat on the back for being able to accomplish all that he has so far. And it still stuns me that alot of people still question his work ethic and his leadership skills. All reports I have heard is that he has been as perfect a teammate as you could ask for.

I don't know, when he was a Viking:

The swelling in Culpepper's injured right knee subsided enough for him to undergo surgery on Tuesday, more than two weeks after tearing his anterior cruciate, medial collateral and posterior cruciate ligaments in a game against the Carolina Panthers. The Vikings' quarterback could require up to a year of recovery time, but the team is optimistic that he will be ready for the start of training camp next summer.

He and Childress just didn't get along, I think. There's rumors they had bad blood going back as far as the 1999 draft when the Eagles took McNabb over Pep. And there was also some speculation about conflict in pro bowls where the Eagles staff coached and Daunte saw very limited playing time.
