I was 2 in 1981, how did we make it to the Super Bowl with that SORRY roster?

Hey, I was just looking at the roster of the 1981 Dolphins. I can only regonize about 10 guys on the team. How in the HELL did we make it to the Super Bowl against the Redskins with that roster? I mean, this years team has bigger names on it, than that team. Was football different in the the early 80's? I mean the defense was all white boys. Im embarrased right now. Why can't this years team be that good? I wish I was a teenager back then, I give my life for the Dolphins to make to the Superbowl. I blame myself. Now I remember when we played the 49ers in 84. All I remember is that we got blown out and looking at my dad's nasty jerrycurl.
 
Those"whiteboys" were the Killer Bee's in their prime.
That era was also Don Shula's best best coaching job.
...P.S. the strike also helped.
 
You didn't, the Bengals went to the Super Bowl in 1981
