I was smarter than Ireland when...

I think we would be better off with the guys I would have taken in the draft last spring, at our original spots. There was a related thread in the draft forum. Virtually everybody came up with superior choices than what Ireland ended up with, IMO.

In my version we lack Dion Jordan but we are upgraded at three positions of need with tight end Tyler Eifert, linebacker Arthur Brown, and particularly at offensive line with Terron Armstead and Brian Schwenke. That's a tough guard and an athletic left tackle. Both were starting by late season. Armstead looked good tonight.

My draft would have really bloomed if Keenan Allen had lasted one pick longer. I mentioned in the write up that I liked him but once the Chargers took him I settled for Stedman Bailey.

Matt Barkley might not have been the greatest pick but I'm not sure he isn't a long term upgrade over Matt Moore, and more ability than Pat Devlin

I did this mentally in real time, but only at Miami's initial spots, and only until early 4th round. After that I started watching the PGA golf, and I really wasn't fully informed on the late picks anyway. I would have been making some informed picks, some stabs, and some stumped.

12) I would have been disappointed but not surprised that Tavon Austin was gone. The league had to wise up at some point. I considered Richardson since I viewed him as a true disruptor and more talented than the two high profile defensive tackles. Those comments prior to the Georgia game bothered me. In the end I decided the best combo of sensible and safe was Tyler Eifert

42) Arthur Brown. Not a need but a dependable player. I'm convinced he's better than the two guys we signed in free agency, and would prove that in a hurry. Besides, I'm a sucker for guys who were extremely highly rated coming out of high school

54) Armstead. Not difficult at all. Athletes of that caliber are worth the risk. I wasn't going to chance 77, even if this seemed a bit too high. Plus I knew it would spark debate over Armstead vs. Albert, who could have been had for this pick

77) Toughest pick by far. I was back and forth, upset that Keenan Allen was nabbed one pick earlier. He's slow but I did see the Reggie Wayne comparison, which I thought of long before others started using it. Wanted a defensive back but nobody thrilled me. I ended up with Steadman Bailey

82) Matt Barkley. Go ahead and scoff. It had become ridiculous at this point. Not as if we're dominant at backup quarterback, or Tannehill couldn't use a push

Early 4th round) I don't remember the pick number but this was the ultimate no-brainer: Brian Schwenke. I mentioned in the Saturday night thread that he stood out to me among the guys still available. With Schwenke and Armstead on the front line we're considerably fortified there, even if I ignored cornerback.

If you want to retreat further, I was on record taking Luke Kuechly in the 2012 draft, and pushing for TY Hilton later in that draft. I can't say who would be playing quarterback if I were in charge. Naturally I'd like to pretend I would have snapped up Russell Wilson but that's hardly a guarantee or even a likelihood, even though I liked him.

There's no chance I give Reshad Jones that new contract. I ranted about the foolhardy nature of that signing countless times.

Obviously I'm going to ignore the errors, like when I doubted that Cameron Wake would amount to much with the Dolphins.

Brandon Marshall Trade
Egnew over TY Hilton
Martin over Alshon Jeffery
Vontae Davis Trade
Dansby for Ellerbe
Burnett for Wheeler
RJ extension

The TY Hilton debacle still vexes me for the simple fact that it's not like this guy was unknown or playing in Alaska. Of all the teams in the NFL that should have understood just how good this guy was going to be, it should have been us. How on earth do you miss that in your back yard?

A lot of people on this board wanted him.

I wanted Hakeem Nicks or Clay Matthews instead of Vontae Davis

Bingo! Matthews was the Pick. I was on record here in multiple threads stating how much I hated Davis before the draft even happened...still do...he should never have been taken over Matthews. That was a clear **** up!

When I figured out how to use the bathroom by myself. So when I was between 1 and 2 years old.

Ireland lost me year one with taking a LT number one overall without a qb on roster.
Never liked the Davis pick but the Pat white pick had me the most furious of any pick ever including Jamar Fletcher
