Dan Marino would come in as a QB coach and get a ring with the Phins.

Do you think he would be a good QB coach?

thatd be great, and an amazing story if dan came back to his former team to win a ring....im not sure on the odds of this happening are but it would be remarkable

I just want ole' Dan to have a ring. He deserves 1, and I know we are heading for a championship soon.:dolphins:

hell, this is MARINO we are talking about, he could still be a great backup bad knees and all

/me is a homer
/me is a dreamer

i would be thrilled to see Dan involved again.
But someone said in a thread not too long ago (about Seau becoming a LB coach) that Marino would probably be a horrible QB coach. These legendary guys played by instinct, had god-given ability and other stuff you can't really coach. Add to that the fact that Dan was rarely understanding or patient with his teammates when he played, probably means that Marino might not be a very good as a coach (guys that struggle, on the other hand, might make better coaches). I thought it was a good point, worth throwing out there for you guys.

No..he would not be a good QB coach at all...Marino was gifted naturally in his ability that he got away with things because he was simply freakish in his God givin talents..Even Duper said the first few years Dan didn't know the pass plays..he just saw the field and got it to the open man! Dan Marino was asked one time how he always found the open man..and he replied "they are always open"..the guy replied.."what do you mean?" and Dan said "you just throw it to the other side of the helmut"...As far as Qb mechanics..he couldn't teach that...he was a natural...there is a OLD saying..."those who can do it..DO IT! Those who can't..TEACH!!!

Pocoloco..your right on..now I think he could help a offensive system break down a defense...but not QB's coach

I wouldn't welcome him as a QB coach.
I love Dan and have all respect of the world for him, but what he had can't be taught. He was born with it.

Dan never got the classic coaching (with the exception of his dad). Infact, his coaches told him to, "never let anyone tell you how to throw a football".

I don't see Dan on the sidelines... I would expect to see him in the front office...

With that said, I can totally appreciate the plush life that Dan lives right now. He makes great money, and has time for his family. I wouldn't expect to see him in an NFL role for a while unless it's with HBO or CBS...

No, Dan wouldn't be a good QB coach. He was always an instinctive player. He wasn't particularly cerebral or a student of the game. Reading defenses was never his strength. He wouldn't be able to help another QB do what he did.

i thought the same thing a while ago, sign him just so he get a ring and shut up all the marino haters. even if he takes one snap like kosar did with the cowboys to get his. but haters hate, and they more than likely would say the same thing in a different way, HE couldnt win the ring. thats the only argument they have against him and unfortunatley every time you hear his name that stupid tag comes along with it.
