Alabama is laying in the weeds waiting for ANOTHER NFL coach...ie Jim Mora Jr. Jon Gruden.

Also, Saban is such a winner and wants to win so badly he will be so behind the recruiting process at Alabama. He will be a year behind building his new team.

Just a few thoughts. However, I cannot wait to do without TV reports from Alabama.

Alabama is expected to look for another NFL coach if Saban turns them down. Tom Coughlin might be on the hot list if the Giants fire him.

Exactly. 'Bama cannot afford to hire another "up-and-coming" coach like Mike Shula. Their boosters will have heads rolling if it isn't a big name coach, meaning an NFL guy or one of the top college coaches in the nation. Since there are no big college names they're pursuing, it is clearly a farfetched hope of luring Saban away, which won't happen... or undoubtedly another NFL coach or top assistant like a Charlie Weis type guy...

If Saban turns them down again then I think they will go after Jim Fassell or Jim Mora Jr.

You'd turn down 40 million guaranteed over 15? Let's say hope he doesn't go. Let's hope Saban's pride is worth 40 million or that his foolhardiness is content with 15 so as to not endure yet another circus-like offseason where we fans usually end up clowned.

Mora Jr going to Alabama is a rumor that has been circulating for a couple of days now...

I actually think that's exactly what Bama is doing. Just waiting until the season is over to see what NFL coaches might be available, and not just HC's either. Once the season is ended they may have their eye on some coordinators as well to come in and be the HC. Very hard to recruit those guys during an NFL season because everyone is focused on getting ready to play the next game and don't want to be distracted by talks with another team about a coaching job.

A coach will not be behind the recruiting situation like you think...

This is the so called dead period that occurs while teams are in bowls. Saban would not be behind, and if anything, he would enhance the Tide's recruiting.

OK, 40 million guaranteed is huge... but also rampant guesses and speculation. I don't care who Armando Salguero at the Herald's sources are, he's trying to get a name for himself and do his job to help sell papers.
But even if Saban takes us to another 2 seasons of losing records, he will still be considered an excellent college coach, who failed in the pro's as many others have. Look at Wanny who failed at both HC jobs in Chicago and Miami, who's now HC at U of Pitt. Think of Dennis Erickson who failed in the NFL, who just accepted the HC job at Arizona State. Being highly paid and highly sought after in the NFL is a once in a lifetime chance, and Nick has too much pride... he's repeatedly said he's not going anywhere, and now refuses to even address the matter because he's so sick and tired if it. He's said he has never once so much as spoken to, or been contacted by 'Bama. Unless this guy is the most disgusting and vile snake in the grass on earth, which I don't think he is, he will be staying...

Maybe Bill Cowher is looking for a change in scenery...I could see him getting a nice offer from Bama.
