100% yes. Take from a position of strength to fill a position of need. Makes every sense.
I would do it for sure.
You'll be hardpressed to find anybody who values Merling at a 5th round level at this stage.
Seems like a pretty fair straight up trade if you ask me.
Merling at his position is much better then Bennett at his position. And thats being unbiased. AT least Merling shows up, sometimes.. Bennett never shows up. He hasnt had a TD since 2008. Merling might be slightly below average, but Bennett is just straight garbage.
Bennett looks the part but is not very good. Idk why everyone is infatuated with Carlson, the guy is injured!

I do agree, however, we are talking about a guy who is the 5th DE on the current depth chart who is in his final year of his contract, while Bennett is still the 2nd string TE in Dallas with all the physical tools we have been salivating over. If Miami is going to part ways after the season anyways . . . I don't have a problem them rolling the dice on Bennett and maybe light a fire under him.
What do u think Merlings value is, in terms of a draft pick, at this moment?
last time Merling scored a TD too lol
