I'd welcome Satele back with open arms

how many qbs have to die in oakland before you all figure out satelle sucks.

calling him out for getting handled by vincent wilfork his first 2 seasons in the league ? Wilfork consistently dominates all pro seasoned vets. not proving a point in satele case to coming here

Hmm... people need to read OP post, looking at bringing him back at Guard.

Slide Jerry out and have Incog, Carey and Satele battle for the guard slots.

LT - Long
LG - Incog or Satele
C - Pouncey
RG - Carey or Satele
RT - Jerry

Not to mention, you can never have enough depth at O line. Also, correct me if I am wrong but Carey is on a contract year and is due some big money.

Garner is better than Satele, Carey, and Jerry at RG AND better than Jerry at RT.. So where does he fit in your plan?

He sucked and was abused by opponents...

Why do people love mediocre players on this site?

We have sucked for a decade plus and many want to continue on this path with bad players...

Does anyone need reminding that Satele was never able to generate any push up the middle and got pushed back into the QB on passing downs?

it wasn't just Wilfork. Kris Jenkins tossed Satele like a rag doll as well. in fact, Samson struggled with anyone that had size and strength.
maybe he is stronger now and maybe he can do better at guard, but he was terrible in Miami when he was here.

Satele played fine when he was in Miami and I would welcome him back. This was possibly the dumbest move The Trifecta made. Not only did they give up a capable center but had to turn around and use a first rounder to replace him. These comments about how he was owned by Wilfork and Jenkins are being greatly exaggerated.

not sure how you feel about KC Joyner, but here are his thoughts:

I'd be very cool with this put him at LG and move Incognito to RG. Stick Jerry, Garner, or Murtha at RT and our line would be legit.

Good info but to give up on a kid who doesn't produce the same result against the 2 best NTs (at the time) as he does against everyone else is not smart football operations, particularly when you wind up drafting another C in the first round a couple years later.

John Abraham gives Jake Long fits but if he played in the division would you trade him? Of course not. Satele is producing Pro Bowl results in Oakland, another player who leaves and benefits from superior coaching.

Why is everyone against bringing him in. Noone is suggesting he start at Center again. But he is more than capable to play guard better than Incognito. Then we can draft a RT in the 2nd like Massie or even in the 3rd.

It is an interesting thought. He had a promising rookie season but seemed to regress in his second season. I haven't paid much attention to him since he was traded so I have no idea how he looks today. The main thing that I remember from his time in Miami was that he just didn't seem to fit the type of blocking scheme that Sparano/Parcells wanted to run. They wanted big mailers to block straight ahead while Satele was better suited to a zone blocking scheme. I have no doubt that part of his problem was the dumb ***'s coaching him.

Assuming that we are actually going to a zone blocking scheme then bringing a guy like Satele in might make some sense. I know the OP's original thought was to bring him in as a guard but I'm not so sure about that. Seems to me that since he has been playing exclusively at center we leave him there. Move Pouncey to guard where he played most of his career. Draft a guy like DeCastro to play the other guard spot while letting Murtha & Jerry battle for the RT spot. That lineup would be pretty young & very athletic on the interior.

Yeah, it was dumb to let him walk in favor of over paying for a marginally better player to begin with. My idea would be to save cap by cutting Carey altogether, moving incognito to RG, playing satellite at LG, and having Jerry and Martha battle for RT. I thought Jerry played very well at RT last year.
A line of Long, Satele, Pouncey, Incognito, and Jerry would be legit I think, and MORE IMPORTANTLY we wouldn't have to spend another high pick on an OL. I really want a WR or pass rusher in round 1 where those 2 positions are loaded where we pick and lower.

Satele's arms are too damn short. That was one of the biggest issues with him. His stubby arms allowed d-linemen to get into his body and push him around

The definition of sucked belongs to guys like Mark Colombo, Ray Lucas and Reggie Howard. Satele was not even close to being that bad, he was actually decent . . . and got schooled by the best 3-4 NT in the game on a couple of occassions while only in the league 2 years.

I tell you one thing, since Jake Long was drafted our OLine was NEVER as good as it was with Satele at Center. Take it with a grain of salt but it is the truth. He is the type of athletic LG that could do well with what Philbin is trying to do.

Jake Grove was better head to head against the 3-4 NT's, but Satele is the better football player and lineman. It was a bad trade as we traded away a 2nd round salary for the highest paid center in the league and the guy never stayed on the field.
