idea if we miss out on flynn and manning.....

I don't want Weeden because of his age. I believe he will be 29 next season. He is older than Matt Moore. Most rookie QB's are about 21 or 22 when they get drafted. That is a difference of 7 or 8 years right there. No thanks.

Crazy reason not to want Weeden. Good reason not to take him at 8, but to not want him at all when we still have issues at QB just isn't smart. Moore came in and played well but he isn't a guy you hand the keys over to w/o a fight. Brandon Weeden has the tools to be a real good QB in this league and w/ the way contracts are structured now teams only get these QB's for 4 years now anyways. Moore only signed a 2 year deal . . . bringing in Weeden with a 2nd rounder doesn't mean you stop looking for a QB (unless he has that good) in the future.

Weeden at 29 means atleast 5 to 7 prime years potentially at a 2nd round price . . . Miami definitely should consider him.

If we could trade down for more picks for a mid-late first round pick to trade, I'd be for it. Otherwise I agree with Kdawg and have been maintaining all along that I've got absolutely no problem ending up with 6 or 7 productive years out of otherwise, if not for age, a top 1/2 of the first round talent for a second round cost. It's why I was so infuriated about passing up on Mallett when he hit the bargain bin.

Reading the thread topic, I assumed the OP was gonna advocate acquiring Hasselbeck. That I would NOT do, as I'd rather see how a relatively young guy in Moore who has been better than and mostly uplifted the teams for which he started, plays out than going with a long in the tooth bandaid fix whose name isn't Manning.

I say if we don't get manning or Flynn say screw every QB in the draft this year,
Trade our first completely away for a 1st and a 2nd next and use those 2 picks 2 trade up and land Barkley????

If Manning is signed on for 3 years Locker is going to be pissed. He just watched Cam Newton and Andy Dalton have incredible rookie years, he's not going to want to sit for much longer, especially when he played pretty well himself the few oppurtunities he had as a rookie. I loved the kid as a freshman at Washington and have followed him ever since. Ironically he was the 8th pick last year, I'd give that pick to Tennesse as well as other considerations to make it happen.

Even at 8, I am of the school that there is no price too high or draft pick to high to draft your QB. If he is the right guy take him quick or take him early, because if you dont someone else will.

Staying positive, we won't miss out on Manning

Sure let's put off acquiring a qb of the future for two or three more years, I mean it has only been twelve so far! After all Tennessee might not extend Locker so let's gamble.

Well I don't want a rookie QB at 29 years old. You already lose 7 or 8 years off his career because of his age. Plus, there is no guarantee Weeden will be a good pro QB to begin with. There are no guarantee's for any rookie QB's, but I would rather take a chance on one that is around 21 or 22 years old.
