Idea to float out there

I like the idea, and initially it's something I would like to contribute to if choosen.

Matt's show is awesome, but I like the idea of this being short because people that may only have a couple of minutes to listen can do just that.

AND.... Since I think the important thing in all of this is for people to hear about the topics they want to hear about, maybe we can have some sort of outline of the show in terms of topics so people can just zoom to whatever they want to hear instead of being drawn off by something they don't.

Short is the key I agree. Maybe have it go 15-20 min. Do the Top 5 stories of the week in which the host (whoever it is) brings up 5 points and gives their "take" on them.

And in weeks where we get a guest (Marvez, Florio...etc) the guest can also chime in with their takes on the Top 5 stories of the week.

On the zooming in part, I don't like that idea. Plus it will make things too complicated in my opinion. If its only going to be 15 min or so, then thats fine make people listen to the whole thing.

Migs you would be perfect for this. With Matt having the radio show, a different voice for this would be ideal. And only doing it once a week I am sure fitting it into your schedule would be do-able.

Miguel has done this kind of thing for us before. He's very good at it. I would really like for him to be a part of this. Plus he's 'local'.

I think it should be 15-20 minutes TOPS. Keep it short and sweet. Or you risk losing people's attention. No zooming in. Just make people listen to the whole thing. It's the same way ESPN hypes up a coming segment, but doesn't show it to you for another 40 minutes. If they don't care for something, they can always just fast forward. But at 10-20 minutes, they won't.

I think Marvez, Florio, Skolnick would be great guests. Hell, we've got an AGENT on the boards. Tessler would be a great. And contrary to what people think of him, Florio would be excellent. I've heard him on the radio.

Hell, maybe we even plug a SPONSER in the thing, if one offered some $$$.

I like the idea except for Florio. He would just get more free pub for his crap website that is the armpit of electronic media.

Basically the Podcast would be where the experts would talk about the dolphins, maybe the NFL altogether for 15-20 minutes. My focus of teh show and what really steers my radio show is fan interaction. There obviously wont be any fan interaction in the podcast, but its all-experts, every show...or at least really smart people.

I am a buddy with the guy that runs NCAAbbs, and one thing we were messing around with (you and me were doing hte same months ago Muck) was Skype. However, the delay is too much to conduct a "roundtable discussion" on various topics. If we got skype to work and was able to record it, it would be great.

I plan to ask Greg Bedard at some point to call into my radio show when that launches, since we plug his blog constantly, I figured he might be able to help me out in that regard...maybe he can be used as a podcast candidate.

Lastly, the reality of it is that this has the potential to last awhile, this may be my last year doing the radio show gig. The radio show is questionable because I am graduating in may and wont have access to the studio after that unless I begin grad school, which isnt likely.

get over the Florio hate. Really, the website isn't crap.

The fact it draws that kind of a reaction out of you shows how much of a success it really is.

Hate to use a wanny-ism, but from a journalistic "standpoint", it's crap.

Calling someone a "turd"? Lost the remaining respect I had for that site at that point. There were other cases too. IT's a tabloid too, tabloids on occasion nail a story. OTher times they are way off. With your argument, I guess the NAtional Enquirer and STAR are "successes" because they sell. If it was up to me, I'd ban these tabloids from sale on the spot.

Just to recap, are we looking for this to be a one or two host show, because IF possible, I think it would be better for it to have two hosts (Me and Matt for example) because it switches things up and it's not just one person talking, it's different opinions where we can differ and present both sides to a situation (aka PTI)

I have no prob with doing it myself, but I think it would be better if it were two hosts. I think Matt and I can have some pretty dynamic discussions in this setting.

Another clarification as I guess I skipped it. Not the technical side of how we would do this, just the logistics, 15-20 min of talking straight? Live? Audio pieces put together to form a show?

And one thing I'll have to figure out for myself is where to record my voice where there is silence  My Cuban house, is a mad house.

I have experience putting packages together, between migs and me we can co-host a podcast, underlay music at certain points if we want...tons of stuff we can do. I have worked AUDACITY to the point that I know it inside and out. Tons of different routes we can go with this. Just have to sit down and plan it out.

I can edit audio pieces here as well. It's just like video, only audio,

AHH! You guys do not understand the frustration I feel because I could do SOOOOO
much if we had the ability to use video and not get our ***** sued.

Damit, just think.

1) Game highlights that I could call.
2) At my High School I did a Fastest 3 Minutes segment like Berman on ESPN and we could do that too for the rest of the NFL.
3) Kick *** sports videos (Ask Matt what I'm talking about)
4) Breakdown plays (Positives/Negatives)

And for those that know about Video Editing, I just got the new Final Cut Pro Suite which is amazing.

In an ideal world, we would have credentials for Dolphins games, be able to interview players like the media, and have copyright approval to use NFL Video.

AHHHH!

YES! They are success because they bring people in the door! If they get you to pick it up, open, and read it then YES they are successes and they have won.

Look at the FREE message board. Everyone hates the guy, but anytime he writes something about the fins, it is posted in the message board, and it gets the MOST responses of any other thread on those days!

And on the "way off" don't ignore the fact the times they are "DEAD ON". like when he had the Muller taking the Miami job before ESPN, CBS, or anyone else had it. There are numerous times he is dead on that people who hate him, just ignore!

Bottom line, if you put him on one podcast, trust me it will be the most downloaded podcast this site ever does!

By the way, to let you guys know, NOW that I'm officially 18 and able to work at a TV Station, I have begun looking for a job in TV, in Miami. Mainly looking at NBC, ABC, CBS.

I'll let you guys know how that turns out, so far, nothing but a lot of talking that is frustrating the living **** out of me because I want to start working already.

Couldn't you still do video without dolphins clips? Just have it be you talking, falshing stats on the screen. Stuff like that without the actual clips?

Sure, I can definitely make CG's of stats, scores, etc and talk over it and if that's something we want to seriously do, no problem.

It's just that we can be so damn creative with video, and of course calling highlights of video would be sweet, but at least we can work with the titles idea.

Well being creative is easy, you a camera, a mic, hit the streets. Find a topic and ask the fans what they think. You talking over stats and such. You could fill 5-10 min of video easily and make it entertaining......WHICH IS THE KEY!

I know what you mean, it's just there is another level of video editing that I do as well. If you have an email that is pretty big, I can send you a video so you can see what I'm talking about.

But, in reference to that Idea, we can do some Man on the Streets segments too.
