If Adrian Peterson falls to #9????

You get the guy you truly want to get that's my draft philosophy (within reason offcourse, not Ricky Williams style).

As for the Tampa Bay-Cleveland thing, I think it's the other way around. Tampa Bay would want Joe Thomas and Cleveland could quite possibly could take Calvin Johnson.

Cleveland already has most of their money tied up in a #1 WR named Braylon Edwards.. They'd be Detroit Lions v2.0 and considering how pathetic their line is, absolutely no way they will pass on Joe Thomas.

On the flip side, the Bucs have two very young first round picks at O Line, who have been doing a pretty decent job. They have an aging joey galloway, a disappointing Mark Clayton, and then an ancient Ike Hilliard.

It just makes much more sense that Bucs would take Calvin Johnson and the Browns would take Joe Thomas

The only thing that may change the Brown's strategy though is that they gave Kevin Shaffer a very large sum of money to be that LT, unless they don't mind moving him to replace Coleman.

Your right though I think the Bucs might just say hey you know what let's just get Adrian Peterson and whoever can drop us right in front of the Texans please do. We can't do that unfortunately but they have plenty of needs so they might settle for Lynch.

Say the Dolphins do get the 4 pick and both Johnson and Thomas are available who do you take?

i would not ever pick another Running back.ronnie is a hell of a back but we never had a coach that utilized it

The Bucs wont fool anyone if they pretend to take Peterson, they have the Caddy. Or am I missing something? How they could possibly pass on CJ and live with themselves, im not sure. Failing that, either Adams or Branch would be a big improvement in their D, absolutely no reason to move. The Browns will likely take Thomas if hes past the Lions, and if not they could go D. The teams that are big wild cards atm are the Vikes and Texans, the teams right in front of us. Both have several offensive needs and could look at several positions including QB, WR, OL and RB between them, with no clear front runner, I think the offseason stuff will play a big part in who they decide to take.

If Quinn Russell or Brohm makes it outta that logjam we phins should be ready to pounce and then thank heaven for our new franchise QB.

Honestly? Considering how desperate we are at Tackle and how much money we have tied up in wide receivers ( Chambers and Booker combine for almost $11 million if I remember correctly ) you have to pick up Joe Thomas. He's such an anchor he really would prove valuable to the running game and the passing game.

But Calvin Johnson is such a sexy pick, he is a once in a lifetime type of Wide Receiver. He has amazing speed considering his size and frame, and his hands are easily the best in this draft.

I think it all depends on Alabi to be honest. Yes we certainly do have money tied up in receivers. However, if I'm not mistaken Booker's cash has very little signing bonus in it. In fact he would be a trade candidate. By the time draft rolls around things may change.

Do you think we should take him? If he is the BPA, it would be kind of hard to pass on him. Imagine Peterson and RB both lined up in the backfield....fake a handoff to one and go to the other...that would be hard to defend. Then when they try to stack the line of scrimmage against us, we throw it deep. DISCUSS!!!!!

:dolphins:
hell yea

No. Maybe I'm crazy but Peterson doesn't impress me.

You either haven't watched his games, or you might be clinically insane. Knocking him for injuries is easy, but as far as running backs go, he might be the most pro ready running back the NCAA has ever seen...

This thread is talking about Adrain Peterson, running back for the sooners. maybe you though we were talking about a diffrent person? honestly my grandma who is extremly sick and has alzheimer's pointed out how good of a player he is and she doesnt know the first thing about football. all she saw was one dude in red trucking people left and right. Youve got to be talking about somebody

anyways... HELL YES WE TAKE PETERSON! thank you roman for this thread. he would be BY FAR the best player avalible at number nine. shoot, this guy could have went first if he dindt have those freak injuries. and the only reason that happened was beacuse he played his heart out for stoops. this is a guy who could change the whole identiy of this offense, and it takes special players to do that. we could become a team that defenses would hate to play if we run the ball well with our two studs (three if RW comes back) could you guys imagine that? it would take a special offense (in the ****** way) not to gain yards throwing if your recivers are getting one on one coverage. because that will happen when teams crowd the box in hopes to stop AD and RB (and yes maybe RW). if we have an OC with half a brain this could easly turn out to be the best pick in the draft if he knows who to utilize the players right.

If he fell to #9 I would say the Dolphins should take offers on trading down and getting a few more picks. We have a lot more pressing needs. Our defensive line is getting older and our WR/OL/QB/DB's need an infusion of talent.

Ronnie Brown is only going to be in his third season. He's shown he can be a good if not great back in the league. Ricky Williams might be coming back as well, if he doesn't screw it up somehow. Those two together equal a running offense that is unparalelled in our division.

Right, RW is the reason why i fell in love with AD if that makes any sense. he showed us who good the offense is when it has two stud RBS. i would love if he came back and played a complete season, but unfourtunatly hes a libablity. it wont hurt brown but rather help him. it would be foolish to pass on a player like peterson or not trade the picks.

Hey, you're welcome. I have seen Peterson play in person and many times on tv. People forget what kind of runner AP is when he is healthy. I think he should be able to come back from the collarbone, and the other injury he had. Some experts say AP runs too "upright." Well so did Eric Dickerson of the Rams, and he carried it for over 2,000 yards one year and nobody complained about his style. I just think AP would give us a ton of options. We could either keep him, or trade him for more picks or a starter.....there are tons of NFL teams that would drool to get AP as a running back. I just would love to see Ronnie and Adrian in the backfield from time to time, or if one if tired you can put in the other. Defensives would have a nightmare trying to contain them and if they cheat and stack up the line, we go deep to Booker, Chambers, Hagan and Welker.

my thoughts ECXATLY. lol its funny how you bring up his upright running, but people will always find ways to bring someone down. Do you remmber last year when evreybody was hating on vince young for his throwing motion.... funny how little we hear about that motion now.
I urge evreybody to stop being so narrow minded, if peterson falls to us, that would be a god send. i hate how he carries around the label injury prone. Watch ONE game and you'll see how hard he runs. never shys away from hits. plays hard for the coach and the team. some may call it dumb but i call it heart. i just dont see the teams before us passing up on him. He easily belongs in the top 2 or 3. future rushing king of the nfl. you heard it here first.
