Just imagine if all of the "ifs" go our way:

  • Our "troubled boys" (Ricky and Boston) come back to the fold
  • Ricky is happy to be a backup, not carrying the weight of the team on his shoulders. Allows Brown to emerge as the starter with a great backup/short yardage option.
  • Boston returns to form. I don't care who starts and who's #3; I'll take Chambers/Booker/Boston against their #3 corner any day. And oh, btw, McMike is now loose on their linebacker!
  • Vernon Carey decisively wins the LT spot. Carey, McKinney, and Hadnot become the nucleus of a young well coached line, with McDougle , James, St. Clair and DMac are there for some veteran leadership.
  • The big one: AJ clearly emerges as the starter, and behind a much improved line with a great 1-2 punch running game and a great receiving corps, lights it up.
  • We get Manuel Wright for a third, essentially getting a free years use of next years draft pick. Our DLine now has youth with he and Roth, and veteran QB-hunters in JT and Carter.
  • Crowder and Pope push Eddie Moore to put up or shut up. Moore wins the OLB position while Crowder and Pope backup and prepare to take over for Zach and Seau(who has a record breaking retirement year!)
  • Reggie Howard, knowing he's gone next year and is essentially in a contract year, plays his guts out and actually earns some of his salary. Travis Daniels contributes quickly, having played for Saban last year. Madison has a probowl year. All the while, Will Poole is healing :)
  • Yeremiah Bell stays healthy and lives up to his hype. Tillman/ Tebucky Jones holds down the fort, while Bua is regularly featured on "Jacked Up"
  • Wes Welker proves last year wasn't a fluke, while Mare proves the last couple were.
I know it can't all happen, but doesn't some of it almost have to? Optimistically looking forward to this year!

if it all comes true it just makes me wanna

Why can't it all happen, believe fin fans believe.

Most of it's not too unrealistic. You never know. If a few of them happen, it leads to some others (ie, good line play and running game = more realistic chance of AJ doing well)

Careful you may be labled a homer for looking at things on a realistic level. Remeber we are a 4-12 team...all the "experts" say so!!! According to eveyone, outside the fins organization and I include us fans because we know far more about the talent here then they do. The fins have done nothing in the off season to upgrade any position or coaching staff member and we had no talent on this team before the start of last season. But here's where their opinion loses any credibility, before the start of last season we were strong contenders to reach the playoffs....in one season all that playoff talent is gone???? No, it's still here, the majority of the talent anyways. We have made (I think) big improvements to the depth of this team. I think we have made the most upgrades of any team in our division. But, we are still a 4-12 team. Does anyone here see a conflict in the opinions of the "experts"??

Well I'm not trying to ramble here, but things just don't add up to me. It's like the only possible reason we lost 12 games last year was talent according to the experts . Not coaching, not injurys, not Ricky quiting!!! Nothing but talent, but all the talent being blamed on last years outcome was the same talent being predicted as having a chance at reaching the SB before the beginning of last season.

Well from what they think of last years team to this years team is just one season, and they think we will have basicly the same season this year. If anyone with half a brain would look at the opinions of these "experts" and all the facts involved they would think that the "experts" are completely of making a rational evaluation. And after all isn't the "experts" job to evaluate teams improvements or lack of improvements from one season to the next?? Does anyone think these "experts" don't understand their job?? Please, someone, anyone point me to a site that has knowledgeable "experts" doing their job.

We have a better chance of getting hit by an asteroid, but here's to hoping.

I don't think it's as far fetched as you think.

Ricky's already taking the steps necessary to come back. If the media can stay off him, I think he'll be happy in a backup role, paying off his debt and not being the focus. Even if he flakes, our running game is already improved over last year.

Isn't Boston already back and reportedly looking good?

Let's face it, the Oline can only be better this year, and probably markedly so. We added a veteran RT and by all accounts the best Oline coach in the NFL. All reports are that everyone's upbeat and sees a big difference.

All the above gives AJ every chance to succeed.

We're legitimate frontrunners for Wright and Roth is reportedly a steal. JT and Carter (and Holliday and Zgonina) won't be any worse than last year.

The LB corps is younger now with 2 HOFers and lots of new potential.

Secondary is a little scary, but Madison looked as good as ever last year and we still at least have a future with Poole.
Everyone seems to think Bell has a lot of potential and we've seen the fire Bua brings to the game.

And just the change in coaching seems to have lifted the dark cloud off this team. All the players seem genuinely excited and optimistic about this year.

I know this is a real homer thread, but I'm tellin ya, we got the potential to really surprise this year, especially on offense.

Wyatt Is A Beliver

THAT if all the stars align we we will no longer have these ricky ,aj and , ferrotte threads and have more threads on our recieving corp.
WYATT also beleives that the time has come for dolphin fans to fill up the stadium and get loud and support the dolphins . i just wish i could come to some games but as a lawman who tries to keep mercury on the path or the straight and narrow i have my hands full.

I totally agree with you in the sense that our offense can surprise, especially Feeley... but lets face one thing, the media will be constantly following Ricky, lets just hope he can deal with it

I guess that's what I really meant; if he can weather the initial fan and media firestorm without too much incident, he can fade into the woodwork a little if he's just a quiet backup to Brown.

It is actualy not that far fetched, except for Ricky coming back to old form and not being pissed about being a 3rd down back. Before Boston got hurt he was doing everything we asked of him. He was dropping weight and showing up to practice, then he got hurt, tested positive for steroids and beat up an old dude in the airport. Being that he has always been built like a monster and this is the first time he has tested positive, I think it is possible he was using it to heal his injury. As far as the old dude in the airport in concerned, sounds to me like he deserved it.
Everything else is all dependent on good coaching a motivated team and if any team is going to rely on those two things it should be us

Coming back to old form I can't predict, but do you think he'll really be pissed about not being the starter. Part of the reason he left was the load and expectation on him. Plus, after everything that's happened, would he really expect to come back and just jump back into the starting lineup? Would he even want to?

Remember how crappy the Patriots were the year before they won their first Super Bowl? And we have much more talent on our team than that! I know a lot of it had to do with the coaches, and we just got some great ones!
