Can somebody please clarifty this for me because in the last 48 hours we've gone from Brian Schottenheimer being the front runner to Mora and Gailey being the final two.
Speculation that Schottenheimer withdrew his name were because we already have a defensive coordinator in place. But if Dom Capers has not even signed his contract Schotty could really still bring in his own staff. You can't tell me its the money because Wayne would pay whoever he wanted more than the Jets would. At some point you have to decide what direction you want to go. If we want a young guy, we have to be willing to make sacrifices to get him. If that means Dom Capers, then so be it. IF WE WANT A YOUNG GUY. I think Wayne needs to make it known that Capers has not signed his contract extension yet so we don't steer away some of these young guys.

I think our next coach should come out of a small car with that circus music playing. da- ra -da-da-ra da-da

Because Schottenheimer didn't want to pull a Saban! He did the moral thing and withdrew his name until he has more experience. I think he's going to be a great coach someday but it is just to soon for him.

Because Capers, arguably the best defensive coordinator in football, wasn't the reason that Brian didn't take the job. If it was, then he is a ***king idiot.

I just want to read somewhere his reasons. It makes no sense to me other than he made demands that wayne refused

I heard it was because of the possibility that his father could be fired in San Diego making him a candidate to be the Dolphins coach and he didn't want to compete for the same job as his father.

That seems to make sense from a timing standpoint, but any candidate who makes career decisions based on the rumor that someone will get fired somewhere and hired somewhere else is an idiot who I am happy won't be marching up and down the Dolphins sidelines any time soon.

I really think it was us signing Capers or other demands on him. I think his take was he had others in mind to run the defense and maybe offensive staff and wanted a free hand and Wayne said no

But that is wild speculation at best. Honestly, if he didn't want Capers, as an offensive coach, I don't want him. A 33 year old former QB should have no deal breaking preferences over how a #4 overall defense is run. If he was a veteran, or a defensive guy I could understand.

I think if he had anyone in mind as assistants, they were offensive assistants that he prefers, and they were not available this year. That is more likely than a 33 year old guy getting touchy about who runs the other side of the ball.

I just read that he really did say that he didnt feel ready so I'm willing to take him at his word. Kinda refreshing after the last bozo we had here. You could be right though on the assistants not being available

The truth will come out eventually. I just hope that Wayne has raised Brian's profile enough that he won't be in NY for very long. He is a good coach.
