Chambers hasn't been living up to his potential for some time now. He doesn't have that I'm going to beat this other team mentality. So, if he keeps dropping the ball I'd like to see him lose his #1 receiver status for at least a while. I think that if he feels he needs to fight for his job, he'll start performing better.

CC has commented in the past that Moss and TO have put up all those 1,000 yard seasons is because they get thrown to 20 + times a game. What he doesn't get, is that they get thrown at all those times because they catch the ball when it matters!

I love Chambers and want to see him do well. Look for Saban to start putting the pressure on him if it continues.

Really what is the difference if we use one wide out on both sides of the ball? Besides its not like he has been the first option all the time thus far. Im pretty happy the way it is. Gotta keep going to him he will catch em.

I'm not saying to do it this week. BUT, if he continues missing catchable balls he should sit out some plays in favor of Boston and Booker. He JUST CAN'T keep missing the catchable passes. A #1 WR should make all the catchable pases. I think Chambers would benefit from feeling a bit slighted.

He is a hard worker and I still believe has potential but he has to start showing it. He has to make all the catches.

Our recievers as a whole have to stop waiting for the ball to get there and start attacking it like it belongs to them.

I think they will be fine including Chambers as they gel better.

You think booker or boston is a better #1 option... I disagree heavily. I think chambers is good (Not great) and is our best #1 guy. I look for boston to upset booker at #2 if anything. The only reciver I really appreciate is Welker who i think has dropped 1 ball so far this season as WR

This is typical over-reacting and whining by a fan who wants to blame one player for an offense that has mostly misfired so far and is still learning a new system.

Give Chambers a chance. We all agree he had ONE bad game and a so-so opener. He's not known as a guy who drops a lot of passes. He had one inexcusable drop and didn't step up last week. If that goes on this week and over the course of the season you have a complaint.

Otherwise, stop looking for problems that aren't there.

Actually I think the guy to demote should be David Boston. What has he done so far? Drop passes, fumble the ball, and show a distinct lack of effort and intensity.

Stop rewarding the guy for what he did 3 years ago. Wes Welker gives effort and intensity on EVERY play, makes the right decisions almost every time, and he would absolutely love to get on the field more. Bryan Gilmore is the same way.

Forget David Boston. If his name were Larry Shannon or Charles Jordan the fans would all be clamoring for him to take the bench. That's the kind of performance we're seeing from David though. Practice superstar, game dummy. We took yet another shot in the dark on him and once again came up with nothing. Sit him in favor of Welker and Gilmore, maybe even make him inactive for a game or two. Send him a message.

Actually I think that would probably send a message to Chris Chambers as well, that we don't care how talented everyone SAYS you are.

You don't know me pal.

I've been watching Chambers drop easy passes for years. It's time to butch up and take the game over. He's had 4 years worth of chances. I like the guy and want him to be our top play maker. He has to WANT it too though.

What does the rest of the offense mis-firing have to do with his play? Is he supposed to only play at the same level as his team mates? The difference between Moss, TO, and all the rest dominating #1 wr's is that they consistantly play at a higher level than most of their team mates. That's what makes them legitimate #1 wr's.

True, but the question was if the trend continues. I think the obvious answer is yes, no one is excempt from being benched for poor play (unless you play for Wanstedt). However, based on his past performance, my money is on CC getting over it with a big game. He's due and we could surely use it this weekend.

You don't throw the baby out with the bath water on Chambers. You may not like his penchant for losing focus but he's still the best guy out there and there's nobody who will play more effectively if Chambers is benched.

The one guy everyone is thinking of, David Boston, is actually the guy who deserves LEAST to be rewarded for how he has played so far. The guy who absolutely deserves to be rewarded is Wes Welker. I would not be particularly opposed to Welker as our 3rd man for the rest of the season, and if Chambers continues to suck then I'd even start moving Chambers inside and letting Welker take some of Chambers' glory.

Boston hasnt been given a legit shot yet. One pass he didnt go up to grab, but that was one pass and he was double covered. Like reggie howard, like ronnie brown, like chris chambers, lets judge them after the 5th, or 6th game instead of the 2nd.

What frustrates me is Chris will make some incredible catches where he will stretch out and dive for the catch and stay in bounds but then a routine easy catch he drops. I think that is a real lack of concentration....maybe he is thinking about a big gain before securing the pass? :(

First off, there's a difference between not coming down with a ball when you've got two guys trailing you, and not even trying for it. It's the difference, on most occasions, between an incompletion and an interception.

Second, in the Broncos game Boston dropped an easy pass, and also fumbled the ball on an easy pass.

He's not getting open, not playing as advertised, dropping passes, not giving good effort, and even fumbling the ball. Screw him. Wes Welker is out there playing lights out for us and the only reasons he's not above Boston on the depth chart are because he's smaller and because of what Boston did 3 years ago.

But I'm here to tell you that the 5'9" Steve Smith is the biggest threat we have to worry about on that Panthers offense, and the short Antwaan Randle-El and Hines Ward are both doing some great things in Pittsburgh.

I think Chambers needs three strikes before he's out, so the game against Carolina is the clincher for me if he continues this crap. He definitely needs a message sent his way. Thanks to Rick Spielman it's not a contract year for Chambers, and I think we're seeing him move into "cruise control" instead of adding some key qualities to his game that players usually add during a contract year.
