If DC is traded or released (Which at this point is probable/certain) could this be considered one of the worst trades in not only Miami Dolphins, but NFL history. Giving up a 2nd round pick for a QB that only played in 4 games. Considering this, I think it could very well be top 5 worse trades in NFL history and worst in Dolphins history...Most of us considered the Feeley trade to be the worst. I think because DC only played in 4 games, puts the DC trade above the Felley trade

Thoughts?

And this is neither a bash nor support DC or TG thread. Just curious as to what everyones thoughts are.

You also have to add in passing on Pro Bowler and almost-MVP Drew Brees

Yeah, hind sight is always 20/20. I would have chosen Brees, but hey I don't work in the front office.

Yes, you do have a point, but im talking solely on trades that we have consummated.

What you passed on figures into it. That's why the Herschel Walker deal (which netted multiple Pro Bowlers) topped the Ricky Williams deal (which Washington pissed away).

The Chicago Bears traded a 1st round pick for Rick Mirer, but no one remembers it because there wasn't much else they could have done. No one special came from that first round pick and the Bears didn't pass on any other "special" QB.

But I bet the Dolphins trade gets talked about on Sports Center for a few years if Drew Brees does well...precisely because Drew Brees is doing well. It creates a "what if" scenario

i really dont see the reason why keep on with the same thing about what pick did we give for this guy n all that, i think that we need to move on new coach new start new QB u know what's done is done but let's just move on n try to have a good season at least make the playoffs, im really not a big fan of the Green deal i want it DC to get a chance but u know what i ready see what happens n hoping for a good year with Green

No way. I would say that the Feeley trade was way worse than the Culpepper trade. At least Culpepper was an ex-pro-bowler and has unbelievable talent. Unfortunatelty for us, it turns out that his knee injury is way worse than probably expected.

However, with AJ Feeley, we traded a 2nd round pick for Philly's 3rd string QB. Who, outside of 5 games (when Mcnabb was hurt) has never shown anything in his career.

The risk/reward ratio with C-pep was much better. We risked the same thing in each scenario (2nd rd pick) but the reward with Culpepper was arguably much much higher than Feeley.

Yes, we traded a 2nd for both, but we got more production out of Feeley than we did out of Daunte which is why I think Daunte would have been the worse of the 2, but we can look at it from different angles and it may prove everyones point to be correct. Feeley won a whopping 3 games and started 12, which if you look at it from one commmon standpoint, they both won 1 out of every 4 games...So maybe from that POV they were both equally bad trades

You guys have had a few doozies the past 5 years. 2 1st rounders for Ricky, a 2nd for Daunte and AJ Feely, a 3rd for lamar Gordon but yes the daunte trade was an awful trade.

Who played pathetically in 4 games.

A second round pick for a bad QB, and now a fourth round pick for his replacement (who will only be on this team for a couple of years).

Yes, it was an awful trade, as bad as any that Wanny made.

hey at the time , brees wanted over a 60 mil contract, people forget how much money brees was asking for coming off of shoulder surgery, remember that people the only team that could pay him that money was the saints, remember, thats why the fins didn't pick him,

AJ Feeley produced? You could have fooled me. His most memorable moment was getting slapped on his butt and crying like a girl. Culepper ( 4 Games) > AJ Feeley's Career

The important # is the guaranted money and according to this article(the link below) he got $10 mil guaranteed which is peanuts for a franchise QB. I think they said Daunte was de $6 mil guaranted ad rememberiai estructuring but can't find the guaranteed mony but I can't imagine it's much less than $10 mil. The dolphins went after daunte fo more reasos than money.
