Its because he is still the best pass blocking RB we have and he is reliable in passing game in open field.

He sucks between the tackles.

But we may need him in regards to NE. The coaches know what they have in that regard. They may not know what they have in that regard with the others.

Just saying based on a rewatch of last years NE game in Miami.

Also, thinking we have improved as a team much more than NE in offseason. Their defense is the same. 31st in rush defense when we went up against them. Wilfork wont be as nasty with that achilles people.

They will get Wright involved in passing game because they know we are on to that offense better than anyone else. I look for him in the red zone.

Have a great weekend everyone! Goin to the lake! buh bye

I think he makes the team because he is the 3 best RB on our roster. I know I am in the minority, and as much as he sucks, I still think he is 3rd best especially in this scheme. I expect him to make the 53.

Daniel Thomas is not in Knowshon Moreno's league as a pass blocker or protecting the QB from a blitz. Knowshon is deceptively strong.

If a pass blocking rb is all you want put Brenner in a jersey with a 30 something on it and line him up in the backfield. Honestly, he'd prob also get 2 yards per carry.

If Dana Thomas makes the 2014 Fins, it means more of the same. I want change and wins. Dana Thomas gives you nada dude. Homers stop loving this Dude. She is gone. Ill miss the falling backwards shoestring tackles and untimely fumbles. More Ireland garbage to kick to the curb. Egnew and Dana should get married.

How will we replace that explosive 3.6 avg? 3 Years of non production. Cant even hold Morenos Jock man. And D. Williams is already further along in one camp then Dana in 3 seasons. Bye Bye.

I honestly don't see how he makes the team? Moreno and Miller are your clear cut 1 and 2.

So that means he's up against Williams and Darwka(Sp?). He's definitely not shown more than Williams..SOOOOOO???

Not even close. While he wasn't on Miller's level of terribleness in regards to pass-blocking, he wasn't too far behind. For all Moreno's faults, he is a pretty good pass-blocking RB.

Wilfork wasn't all NE was missing on their defense. They were also missing Jerod Mayo who's a pretty darn good linebacker.

If we've eliminated his running ability and focused on needing him for catching and blocking.... just keep an extra H-Back or TE.

Early in camp there was a lot of H-back formations. I remember reading Egnew and Hoskins lining up in the backfield but when all the TEs started dropping with injuries they stopped. Would seem like a good roll for Hoskins if they keep him given he's built more like a FB than a TE.

Yeah I've never quite understood why people think Thomas is a good pass blocker. It's like they know he's a bad running back -- and he's large -- so there must be some reason he's out there.

The reason he goes out there for third downs is because he's a good pass receiver. He has good hands and feet and being in open space mitigates his complete lack of running instincts inside the box.

If ya wanna go by stats, Miller pass blocked 127 times, and gave up 2 sacks, 1 hit, and 4 hurries. Moreno pass blocked 80 times, and gave up 1 sack, 3 hits, and 3 hurries. Thomas pass blocked 91 times, and gave up 3 sacks, 0 hits, and 6 hurries.

Their defense is the same as last year?? If only....the Patriots have put a strong emphasis on improving their defense, and allowed Tom Brady to shoulder most of the offensive production. Their secondary is scary, and coupled with the return of Wilfork , Mayo, etc...there defense is a much improved unit from last year.

Anyone who thinks Daniel Thomas is good at blitz pickup, please go watch all 58 sacks from last year. Daniel Thomas' effort on several of them was pathetic.
