If Dolphins trade down with Dallas, Tannehill will be gone

No one is trading us a 2013 first round pick, a 2012 2nd rd pick, and a 2012 3rd rd pick for our #8. It's just not going to happen. Add in the fact, who ever gets the #1 next year, will more then likely be needing a QB, and picking Barkley themselves. It is way too big of a gamble to do this from a dolphins perspective anyway. You don't throw away a 1st rounder this year in the top 10 for a guess on where you may pick or who may be available next year.

Yeah, i did a thread a while back about trading with Philly to 15. The chart says their #51 would take care of the difference. This is why Washington selling the farm for 3 years in the year that rookie cap started is so stupid IMO. No one else wants Vikings pick as far as we can tell.

Picks 10, 11, 12, 13 are Bills, Chiefs, Seahawks, Cardinals.

An argument could be made that all of those teams could pick a QB. I really feel like one of those 4 would take him before the Dolphins would pick at 14.
You're right but I'm not against trading down. Would depend on what Dallas gives us in return and it would also depend on us grabbing Weeden before Cleveland's second 1st round pick...I think if Tannehill is off the table teams in need of a QB would probably overdraft Weeden and Cousins just to make sure we didn't get either.

Although trading back in and getting all the way up to 21st is going to cost us the 2nd we got from Dallas, our 73rd pick and probably our 4th round pick so I'm not sure that makes a whole lot of sense. If you're trading down you're looking to accumulate picks and in this scenario you actually end up losing two picks.

Knowing that, and if they did trade down, would be a likely indication that Tannehill was not their guy and likely Sherman was not vying for him, similar to the Flynn Philbin situation where the Dolphins "whiffed" on Flynn according to the "experts" at BSPN

I'm sure if we did trade down them the media would find a way to say that we whiffed on Tannehill.

Actually in his scenario I think we'd get Barkley the worst team in the league will probrobly wind up being Indy and they wouldn't need a QB.

If Tannehill were gone at 14, I wouldn't be opposed to taking Weeden there... At least we got another pick in the process. And I actually think Weeden is a better prospect.

I kinda feel like all four of those teams have significant reasons that they wont take Tannehill (Fitzpatrick, cassell, Flynn, and Kolb. Yes all four are up in the air but there is a lot of money invested in them.

The Bills contract with Fitzpatrick would allow them to take Tannehill. It's very cap friendly and they could cut him a year or two down the road. If they took Tannehill Fitz would be auditioning for his job again and if he didn't do well Tannehill would be starting in 2013. Tannehill's mobility would have to intrigue Gailey.

The way I feel right now is that if we trade down I'd be fine with it so long as we picked up Weeden later on. If we trade down and leave the draft without Weeden I'd be pretty disappointed.

Trading down with Dallas would be a huge risk....Tannehill won't get past Seatle at 12!

Simple. If coaches want Tannehill then take him at 8. If they dont want him trade down once or twice. This draft is deep at multiple positions. I would take Tannehill if he is there.

If we pass on him it will scare teams away with his old coach on our staff. He will drop.

What are you talking about?? Almost ANY team would take that deal. The 8th pick in the first round is worth 1400pts. This years middle 2nd rd (400) next years average 1st (400 because your value drops roughly one round) and this years mid 3rd rounder (180) would only total 980 pts. WE would be the ones that wouldn't take that deal, not other teams. Now if it happened to be a really high 2nd rd pick like the colts it would be closer: next years 1st (400) this years 2nd (580) and this years 3rd (265) would total to 1245. We would still be losing 155 pts but it would be possible.
