We have to give him some kudos for, if nothing else, bringing some excitement back to the Dolphins games. I'd love to have him as a back up. He'd be the best backup in the league. Maybe something will be worked out and he'll stick....

Excitement? I got a sickly feeling in my stomach every time he went back to pass. Even more so when he missed a wide open WR down the field.

Gus is getting bad advise from his agent

I liked what gus did for us this year. He was a solid QB and did what was asked of him. I think people on this site expected too much because they were convinced that we were a playoff team. He definitely deserves a thank you for the excitement him and chambers gave us this year.

He wasn't the greatest QB, but he did not have a bad year. In fact, he connected on more long touchdown passes then I have seen since Marino was here. He also brought a good sense of leadership to the offense, something Feeley and Fiedler had trouble doing.

Brees is light years ahead of him, however you have to give Gus credit. If a new CBA gets down, I wouldn't mind seeing Frerotte come back to be the backup behind someone like Brees.

YEAH, excitement. Some big plays through the air. Some high risk, high reward passes. Yeah, he could use a little help in the accuracy dept. But all in all, he was our BEST QB and best deep ball passer since Dan left. There is no disputing that. He also had his hand in Chambers getting his first 1000 yard season.

Yes yes....what he said

Well, I think Gus accomplished what we all expected, to be servicable and a stop gap guy. Kudos to Gus for that, but he certainly never exceeded any expectations in my book.

Excitement? If you consider EXTREMLY off target throws, constantly missing recievers, lack of mobility, poor decision making and bad reads then yea i guess.

The thing that put the band in the Fins this year was watching a rookie running back run wild, a pothead get his licks when he got his chances, a wide reciever have a BREAKOUT year, and a few defensive guys just being playmakers (Taylor, Thomas, Crowder and at times Carter, Holliday and Shulters)

The thing you were right about is that he is a GREAT backup but nothin more. But Gus deserves no recognition for the year he had. His stats dont lie. 28th rated and 52%, nuff said.

You and Gus have something in common. Both of you have a very SLIM chance of being the starter next year.

I`ll give him some props for an OK job. Yeah, his passer rating sucked, but the 17/13 TD to INT ratio and the zero pick sixs he threw were a sharp contrast to what AJ did the year before. I `d take him as a backup.

Some seriously closed minded folks here. NOONE....I REPEAT NOONE is trying to put Gus in the HOF. We are just saying that Gus deserves some credit for playing hard for us, giving us plays in the passing game that we haven't seen in a while and equalling his personal best TD passes in a season. Yeah, he didn't take us to the SB and more than likely couldn't. But that wasn't the point. IF you don't feel Gus deserves some kudos or respect, then simply stay out of the thread!

I would really like to have Gus as a backup behind Brees especially considering the injury questions, but I see Gus wanting to go somewhere where he thinks he might have a chance to compete for a starting job. Personally I don't think that is out there for him..but who knows

couldn't have said it better myself. thx. Gus brought back fire to our offense. In 5 years Jay had one game like that (through the air anyway). The Thxgiving game vs Dallas. (and maybe the comback win vs Redskins).
