If I was the coach, here is what I would do...

1) Pennington would start against the Pats. While I like Henne, I don't want to go there quite yet, at least not full time.

2) Spread offense with Pennington at the helm and 2 minute offense in first 2 of each half. I want 4 WR's in the game. Force the defense to NOT stack the box. This might help the run as well as the pass.

3) Play press coverage and blitz a lot more. I don't like what I see from our zone and base D over the past 2 games. Might as well take more chances.

4) Bring in Henne for at least one series in each half to throw the D a change up and give the rook more game time experience. If he continues to excel after 2 or 3 games....then I start him if Chad P is not producing yet. Otherwise, continue to give Henne some drives outside of garbage time for rapid growth.

Bottom Line: Should have never said, "why not us". I like the "don't look for the light at the end of the tunnel" philosophy better. Not sure why the tune was changed. A vet like Chad P. and 3 decent showings in the preseason raised hopes. This was a 1 win team just a year ago and very lucky to get that win. It will take 3 years to get back to .500 ball. Realize we are at step 1. Look for some improvement in week 8. I want to learn more of my team. Think of this season as a looooong preseason. Tinker and bench more people to send messages if need be. Don't confuse experimentation with coaching stupidity. First and foremost, stop the stupid penalties. We are literally giving points away for free. 12 men on the field is unaccpetable causing a missed FG to turn into a TD. If that keeps up, a coach is going to have to be fired to send yet another message. It is embarrasing and causing fans to doubt that the right people are running the team.

Our schedule is not that tough this year. I think the Cardinals are MUCH better than what they are given credit for. They also have strengths which exploit our weakness....2 awesome WR's. Learn from the game, open it up on O and take more risks on D. Players need to focus on playing hard and having fun, not getting frustrated. Hopefully, being more aggressive can be inducive to that.

With ya 100%, I like the idea about giving Henne reps pre-garbage time, hadnt thought about it, but what could it hurt?

I'd also put London in as the #2 WR and run Ginn in the slot.

But damn, I read your post and was wondering how you got into my brain:)
