The alternative pick went to the Browns. That team is terrible. I know that chances are Brady Quinn could end up a bust, but that still doesn't convince me that things couldn't have turned out differently had he gone to a different place. Jeff Garcia looked terrible in Cleveland and Detroit, yet he was outstanding in San Francisico, Philly, and Tampa Bay. Sometimes the organization plays as big of a role as the actual talent of the QB. In the end, I'd rather see us have a first round bust than constant second round busts, because at least the first rounder probably had more talent to begin with.
John Beck was a bust and he was 5 years older than the other draft prospects. Ted Ginn may be a bust and he was a tremendous reach. Whether or not Brady Quinn turns out to be a bust doesn't make those two picks any better.
