Obviously there's zero chance of Jim Kelly playing pro football again--I'm not suggesting that, but the Favre/Vikings thing got me thinking...

What if, towards the later part of his career, Kelly became a Dolphin? Would you like it? I thought Miami fans would HATE the Penington signing, but I was proved wrong. I would think everyone would despise Kelly in Miami--I sure would...

thoughts?

even better, get Namath to be our mascot and Shula could slap him around with a rubber dolphin for the halftime show.

better yet Dan comes back and show that he still got it.. although i ,in all seriousness, would love for him to be a full time qb coach for all three mostly Chad h. That would be... would.. be. AMAZING!!

Jim Kelly was a Miami collegiate product, so it would have been kind of cool to see him play his pro career in Miami. Had we not had Dan Marino of course. Kelly owned Marino head to head, but in terms of talent at the QB position Marino was better by a large margin. Not even close. I'd have only wanted Kelly if we'd never have had Marino, he would have been a nice fit i think.

Thurman Thomas was here.....one of the most akward-confusing memories I have...
He didnt produce for crap, but if he had, maybe my feelings wouldve changed.
What Im trying to say here is, after more than a decade of suffering to Favre, if he delivers for the Vikes, they MAY start to like him, but its not that easy, at least not right off the bat....as a matter of fact, I think he will actually set them back even further.....I guess well wait and see who is buying a purple #4 come December.....

Thurman Thomas was already washed up when he came to Miami. My feelings about getting him weren't great not because he'd played for the Bills, but because he was way past his prime. It was a waste.

I was apprehensive about signing Pennington because i didn't want his blown up shoulder becoming an issue and hindering the development of our QB's (then Beck, now Henne). So far he's been fine, his arm strength is a little questionable especially in his down the field reads but when he sticks to the short game he's deadly. It didn't matter that he was a Jet, as much as i hate them, if a guy can play and help us win i really could care less who they USED to play for. Unless it was someone who had trashed the Dolphins organization or something.

It's a rivalry against a team, not it's players (in most cases) so if by some twist of fate we had ended up with Jim Kelly and he could still win games then i would have accepted it. Didn't they go to 4 superbowls in a row and lose all of them back in the early 90's? Man, I hated them.

I'd take Tom Brady in a heart beat. I dont care if he throws 18 TD's in the two games against the Phins this year and the Pats win both 82-0.

I could never hate Jim Kelly no matter how much I despised the Bills as a child.

Its a business anyway.....and only a select few would NEVER put a division rival jersey on....
Favre? I really think he only wants to get back at Thompson, and play one more year while hes at it....But for one more year, you get to play against the fans who sweat blood for you, in that weather? Retire man, Thompson will soon be forgoten, you wouldnt be, unless.....

It is business, and i never understood why people get all caught up in it. Who cares if Favre goes to Minnesota? It's not selfish of him to go to Minnesota because he's turning his back on the "fans". The guy still thinks he can play football at a high level, coincidentally the team that believes he can is the Packers arch rivals. They're willing to pay him to start for them, and help them win. It's a situation that he fits in. It's business, he'll do it, oh well.

I can't fault him for that. Or anybody. If you worked at KFC for 20 years and they decided it was time for you to move on, because they have another young Chicken cook waiting in the wings. Is it wrong for you to go to Popeyes because you still think you can fry chicken?

Favre is going to play for the Vikings next year, and may play in the NFL for another 2-3 years. It's something Packers fans and all fans are going to have to deal with, because as long as he can still play he's going to do it, and he should do it. As much as i'm sick of the Favre coverage, at least you can give him a little credit for leaving Green Bay without a fight on his own terms. It would have been very easy for him to be like "no, screw you guys, i gave 16 years to this team, you're not forcing me out for a rookie, blah blah blah". The fans probably would have gotten behind him and made the Packers look terrible. At least he said "fine, if you guys want to move on, trade me, it's ok. But i still want to play".

Its Favres timelines that are all screwed up.....What professional franchise can plan ahead when your agent tells you jack sh..., and you havent made your mind up in months?
I agree with you on the analogy, but its his fault as well....and if we finfans are fed up with it, imagine how they feel up north, they probably puke at the mere image of the guy...

Well thats what annoys me about him. Thats the part of him that i know is a complete attention whore, who wants to drag out his decision making process so the media can cover him for the entire off-season. So he can stay in the spotlight despite what other teams are doing. It's sickening.

i never guessed favre could hijack a thread about jim kelly. keep underestimating that guy for some reason.
