So it's obvious that there is a complete split on who should start Sunday's game. My personal opinion is that Joey was brought in as a backup, and if Daunte can play he should play. But if the decision is made for Harrington to get the start, I really think it's a BAD idea to start him against the Patriots. If he somehow steps it up against the Pats D then props to Joey, but there is also a strong possibility of Joey folding under the pressure(just because the Pats are such a solid team). If he did poorly on Sunday, I think that would have a strong affect on his play if he were to start future games as well--if by nothing else, purely psychological factors. If he must start, lets start him against the Packers or something.

No way man. Let him start against a strong team. He either wins the job or he doesn't. He isn't likely to start anyway since CP took the snaps on Friday. CP will start, but if he's stinking up the joint like he has the last four weeks you'll see Harrington.

They split the snaps today with the first team. The way Saban is talking, it sounds as if he is leaning towards Harrington a little at this point. But there is really no telling with Saban.

Dc Is Not The Problem, We May Have The Worst Ol In Football...
You Could Put Payton Manning Behind That Line And He Would Do No Better

We could benefit from this, there's barely any gamefilm of Harrington in our system so they wouldn't have much to gameplan for. I still hope Culpepper starts.

Saban on Daunte:

"He wants to play in the game and we have to make a decision whether he's physically capable of doing that," Saban said. "He practiced OK today. ... We want to put him in a situation where he can be successful. If we feel like he can do that, he'll be ready to go in the game. If that's not the case, then that's why Joey was brought here."

"I think everybody knows he's not the Daunte of the way he's played before, relative to his mobility, movement, quickness, explosive quickness," Saban said. "By the cumulative effect of some of the hits and so forth that he's taken in the games, I just noticed that maybe this was having some effect on him."

After watching Sabans PC and Joey's PC I am thouroughly convinced he will be starting against New England.

The forum is gonna be running wild at the end of that game if this is the case

god i hope he doesnt start, Cpep has played practically mistake free the past 2 games... He's been sacked 21 times but he's still clearly the hardest QB to sack we've had in a long time, maybe ever. Yes the Line isn't doing well and yes Pep has struggled.... But if's he good to go he's gunna start, if he's not.. Go joey !! Best case scenario IMO is that we win with both Qbs so we can possibly trade 1 for mid-hi round value.

You ever see Dan play? He'd literally take a half-a**ed step sideways, leave the defender grasping for air, and then fire a rocket 40 yards downfield and hit his guy in stride. All in one motion. The quickest feet and release in the league.

Saban said Pep was the player of the game for the Fins last week. I don't know what joint he stunk up last week. Culpepper has gotten better every week since the Steelers game.

Well, that might have been what he said then, but this is what he said today:

"I respect the hell out of a guy that will put his career on the line and everything else on the line because he wants to play and he wants to be on the team. Sometimes you have to make a decision to protect people from themselves. There could be a boxer somewhere that had five concussions and maybe it’s time to say, ‘let’s wait awhile until you box again.’"

That doesn't look like Saban is exactly oozing confidence in the guy.

other than the last 5 minutes, I thought the Steelers game was Daunte's best considering the competition
