I've read that Charles Clay may take Lousaka Polite's roster spot this year. If so, how about a modified wildcat for 3rd & 1..

-- QB: Daniel Thomas. He played QB before, so he's a better throwing option than Ronnie Brown.

-- 8 Men on the Line: 6 big linemen, plus Fasano and Clay.

-- 2 WRs: Brandon Marshall and Clyde Gates. Gates - the former basketball player w/40" vertical - seems pretty good at the jump ball.

We'd have a big 8 man front, with a 230 lb RB running downhill. So if the opposing team wants to stop us from getting one yard, they'd probably need to put 9 men in the box. But if they do that, then Brandon Marshall and Clyde Gates would have single coverage downfield. And we'd also have Fasano and Clay as receiver options.

What do you think?

That would be a dumb move. Rookie Rb, Fb, Center, and a revamped line. Going to have pass protection and blocking difficulties. We need stability.

Lou is one of the best players on the team and as good as any FB in the NFL at being a FB..

Would be stupid to get rid of him assuming Clay can handle everything and not have a true FB, especially a FB who plays at a high level. Not to say Clay can't be a versitle FB or H-back but sometimes you need that real blocker guy, and the mr auto 1 yard or less.

Lou's run blocking slipped last season. So if Lou has not improved on it and Clay blocks just as well, I can see them letting Lou go.

wildcat is for scrub teams, we are trying to get past our scrubs days, let it die please.

Many teams used the wildcat last year. The Bears, Jets, Eagles, Cowboys, and The Browns.

I believe Joshua Cribbs was used frequently in the wildcat last year with Daboll. I would not mind using it again in sprinkles. I am just trying to be constructive and optimistic here.

If Polite gets cut I will be pissed. That guy has sustained a lot of drives with his 3/4 and 1 conversions and he never complains about carries. His role is perfect for this team. They'd be stupid to let him go.

Let's give up nearly a sure first down for a gimmickplay...mr. henning, bad idea
