If Manning is our main target, Ross is not serious about winning long term

Don't know about Manning coming to Miami but

Dolphins without Manning > Colts without Manning

Just as an example, the Colts were the best team for years in least sacks allowed when Peyton was QB. This year? They were dead last. Peyton Manning is a hell of a QB, we would instantly be a Super Bowl contender with him and the defense we currently have.

1st off I think that he is going to retire so this is moot.

2nd I think Ross is making a pathetic attempt to try to build some excitement.

3rd even if manning does not retire he will want to go to a team that has a shot at a superbowl next year a team like the 49ers IMO.

4th how many times are we going to play the "We are only a qb away card?" The team should have been dismantled last time around and once again it looks like we are in perpetual win right now mode WHICH DOESNT FREAKING WORK...

Ross is a joke and so is his boy Ireland if he thinks for a second that manning will want to come here...

Its finally time to think long term. If you cant get a QB 1st round then draft one later on but build the team so that in 3 years we have a chance, it took the cowboys 3 years to go from chumps to champs (not to mention a really dumb trade with the Rams.) time to look at New england and start doing what they are doing because they have gone more then the peyton led colts FOR A REASON!!!

1) Entirely possible.

2) Would you like him to strive for boring?

3) You may have a point, up until you said the Niners ... they don't need him - they've committed to Smith.

4) The traditional idea of "rebuilding" has become a product of a by-gone era. Turnarounds happen.

You may be right, you may not. But, you do realize that free agency occurs before the draft, right? If he doesn't want to sign here, boo-freakin-hoo ... We move on to the draft.

Completely agree with your opinion. As long as it generates ticket sales I'm sure Ross will be all in, buisness first football second. Dolphins best chance to win is to sign Flynn, improve the OL, and try to add more talent on the offense.

The fact that Manning may like to play for the 49ers doesn't mean the 49ers have any interest in Manning.
I am not speaking for his interest in the Dolphins, only that the 49ers are not going to be a option for him.

do you think Manning wants to play for a team that has ZERO shot at a Superbowl for the next few years. <---The Dolphins

The 49ers were just the team I thought of that manning improves immediately and used them as an example. I did say I think he will retire.

Manning wants to win a superbowl, he would go to the jets before he came here...WE ARE NOT THAT CLOSE...would I enjoy seeing him here, yes. Do we win the superbowl with him w/o some serious help? NO.

In short, putting it in the paper that we want him is NOTHING MORE THAN A SAD ATTEMPT TO GET POSITIVE PUBLICITY since you hired a pretty boring name...do you think he brings a superbowl? Do you think we are just one player away again LIKE WE HAVE BEEN FOR APPARENTLY 25 years?

Manning would fill a need allowing us to use draft choices for other needs, like a pass rush LB, a RT, safety or another playmaker. Is he the long term answer? No.To me it's just another Debbie Downer post. Why not give Ross a chance.

OH MY GOD this is getting ridiculous.

People are now criticizing Stephen Ross for wanting Payton Manning????

This is getting downright ridiculous.
No i am criticizing him for ADVERTISING in the newspaper that he wants a QB who WILL RETIRE THIS OFF SEASON, in a PATHETIC attempt to build some positive press for his team since he made a pretty unspectacular hire because no one wants to come here any more.

I once again state that I would love to see manning in a fins uni, I do not want to see him wheel chair bound when he takes his first hit.

If he had been able to hire Bill Cowher he would not have had this "Leak" sent to the paper. This is nothing more than press.

Because Ross is an idiot in the football world. He has to be a smart guy to make all the money he has, but in the world of the NFL, he is not. He cant even get the rest of the owners to let his little tv in their stadiums (and its not for a lack of trying), he is a part of their little club but they want nothing to do with him.

lol. start doing what NE is doing? Tom Brady's of the NFL must be easy to find...
I'm pretty sure there are 31 other teams trying to do what NE is doing.

He's. Not. Healthy. And won't ever be.

We need to sign a QB who doesn't have a permanent and irreversible loss of strength in his throwing arm. A QB who isn't on the wrong side of 35 with bone from a cadaver fused to his neck.

At this point I just hope Peyton doesn't cash out by taking us for a ride.

why do you play the game? to win the superbowl. if you can win it this year by picking up the right pieces, then by all means who care what happens to the team next year?

2-3 years from Manning as an F/A and drafting Tannehill at #9 to learn behind Peyton can easily make this a long-term solution.

Thank you. I couldn't have expressed this thought better. However, I think Manning is finished.

you're right, he's not healthy and perhaps never will be, However, if the drew brees evaluation taught us anything, its that you take chances on greatness.

Could be another smoke and mirrors tactic...no one truely knows as the amount of misinformation spread during the coaching search was a continuous theme.

The difference is that Drew Brees isn't going to be disabled for the rest of his life.

Look, I would be the first guy on the Manning bandwagon if it was a knee injury or something like that, but this is not just something that you can rehab from like it never happened. If you don't believe me, ask a surgeon or one of the several Finheaven posters who have had a spinal fusion.

I just really, really, really hope this is all another ruse by our front office.
