If Manning is our main target, Ross is not serious about winning long term

There's a difference between stop gap QB, and hall of fame stop gap QB. If he is 100% healthy, with minimal risk of getting reinjured, get his butt in here.

The difference is that Drew Brees isn't going to be disabled for the rest of his life.

Look, I would be the first guy on the Manning bandwagon if it was a knee injury or something like that, but this is not just something that you can rehab from like it never happened. If you don't believe me, ask a surgeon or one of the several Finheaven posters who have had a spinal fusion.

I just really, really, really hope this is all another ruse by our front office.
if manning wants to play and a doctor clears him, then manning is going to play "somewhere".

I just hope it's not for us, because I'm willing to bet he can't even make it through preseason action.

This narrative about The Fins being years away from SB contention, and actually using SF as a team for which PManning would rather play? Please!

Last I looked, SF ended 2010 with the same record as the Fins did in 2011: 6-10. but w/o winning 6 of the last 9! Unlike the Fins competing in the AFCE, SF played in the least competitive division with no winning teams and the wild card berth going to a 7-9 team. When SF ended the season they had beaten teams with a combined 31-49 record, none of them being winning teams. At the conclusion of 2010, they had no QB they had any faith in, spent a fairly high draft pick in the hope of getting one, had no HC and a team with low morale. Yet magically with the rejuvenation of a thnrow-away QB being used properly, a modern dynamic, inspirational HC with winning imprinted into his psyche, and basically the same nucleus of players including Ted ****ing Ginn, unless I'm mistaken, they seem to have come within a field goal of the Superbowl. So much for the conventional thinking of 3 year developmental plans, eh?

Everyone can think what they want, whether they have an agenda, axe to grind or sees things through rose colored glasses. Whatever. But please don't bury the Fins based on some archaic notion of what it takes to rebuild an underperforming, undercoached team, especially if you're gonna cite last year's version of the Fins as an example of an attractive team a hotshot QB would want to go to. Sorry but it is what it is!

Lol this is a terrible idea. Guy is 1 hit away from retirement. With our offensive line, that would probably happen within the first 3 games. The reason why Matt Moore was successful last year was due to his ability to get outside the pocket. Manning doesn't do that, he's strictly a pocket qb.

I think the Dolphins, with better coaching, Matt Moore starting from week 1, and defensive players who were in shape and ready to play the first five weeks of the season, would have been a wild card team this year. I think we're a playoff team next year if Philbin is the coach we think he is and we have better play at QB.

Guys like Manning dont need to get out of the pocket to avoid sacks...

This is the most useless thread to date. You really wouldn't take Peyton Manning? Wow!! The fans on this site, have gone to a new level of stupidity. Manning, if healthy and cleared, is top 5 QB in the league. I would take that chance hands down and draft a QB to groom behind him. Stupidest thread made and given 1 star to prove it.

Truthfully speaking I would trade up. I also understand posters feelings on the injury its pretty severe. But if it came down to Manning with a screwed up neck or backing the brinks truck to Flynn's doorstep it's Manning all the way. No question.

If Mannig is cleared and he decides he wants to play, I want Manning. Simple as that.

its just like fisher. not ending up with manning. its just rouse on the way to something else.

The more we are talking about Ross, about what he says and does, the more we are going away from winning football.

The GM and Head coach should do ALL the talking about the Dolphins not the owner.

Think about it, what other NFL owners are soooo keen and eager to talk to the media about their teams and what THEY are going to do?

The only guys who come to mind are Jerry Jones and Daniel Snyder and Snyder has changed his ways after screwing up the Redskins for years.
