Opinions? Do you think all hope would be lost for the playoffs or do you think the Jets losing would keep us alive a little while longer for a wildcard spot? Keeping in mind that we play them the last week we would stay one game behind them. Which we could tie up at the end. Which I believe would tie us divisionally depending on how the Buffalo game goes.

Just curious if everyone here is gonna fall apart tomorrow in the event of a loss or were staying optimistic. (but for the record I think we're gonna kick their ***, and New York is gonna be dominated)

Come on buddy, of all the scenarios you could come up with think of somthing a bit more enticing to talk about.

Jeez, if you guys don't like the topic, avoid it and move on! No need to trash the guy! He's probably just excited that we're in this position after last season's debacle. When was the last time we could even talk about playoff scenarios??? I for one think we've got a great chance to pull it off this season and I'm excited we have the chance. So if you guys aren't as enthusiastic, then let the rest of us who are excited about this chance, live it up a little.

I don't know all the implications, but I would think it would hurt Miami. One thing for sure the away games at Buffalo and Jets would have to be must wins.

Well thanks to those of you that get where I'm coming from! After last year I can't even believe we are in this position this late in the season and was curious what people thought would happen in the event things go south tomorrow, I'm not trying to torture myself or be a pessimist just trying to weigh the possible scenarios, and if we could still pull this thing out somehow even if we can't get it done tomorrow.

If we win and the Jets lose we are a half game behind them, both at 7-4. So far we have actually had a more difficult schedule than NY, which is about to change. The wildcard might be harder to get than the division championship, and beating NE tomorrow makes us winning the East more likely than getting a 5 or 6 seed.

The same, we'd still have to make up a game sometime between now week 17 and then of course beat the Jets in that game.

I'm more concerned about what the Colts and Ravens do if we lose. If they both win, and if the Patriots beat us. We're in trouble.

If that happened, we could still win the division but we'd need help. Not a lot of help, but some. After your worst-case Sunday scenario...

If Miami wins its last five games, we would win the division if the Jets lose any one of their next four, and the Pats lose once. This is because both the Fins and Pats have an edge over the Jets in games against common opponents outside the division. However, if the Pats lose only to Pittsburgh, they could win the division in a strength-of-victory tiebreak. It’s too early to know who would win that, but the Pats have an edge.

As for a wildcard, I'm pretty sure no 11-5 team has ever missed the playoffs. 10-6 teams generally make it too, but sometimes not (we missed out at 10-6 a while back, as I recall).
