hopefully they will all pan out but something tells me Vickerson may not, injury issue early on could be tough to bounce back from, and he may not be all there mentally

you guys have any reservations about anyone from this draft class?

He looked like the most impressive of the later picks in the pre-season. I can't understand why you'd think he's done.

There is always some players that dont pan out in a team's draft. Id say if half of the players drafted turn out to be good its considered to be a successful draft.

Actually they put him on IR too soon, he actually could have played this year, I think the guy may have something, he was looking good early on..but time will tell.

Actually I think there is a lot of organizational optimism surrounding Vickerson. Which is, by itself, impressive for that late a pick. Coupled with how high Houck and co. are on Alabi... I'm blown away. Add those two projects with another promising project, Roth and the already heroic returns from Brown, Crowder and Daniels...

This last draft by Saban was nothing short of astounding.

Obviously we won't know for sure for years, but:

Pound for pound, early returns show it as one of the best drafts I've seen in years by anybody.

From all reports Vickerson has bounced back very well from the injury. Based on what the coaches have said about him I think we may see some good things from him in the future.

We placed him on IR to not have to make a tough decision on him later. They knew he'd be available later in the year to workout and learn from the vets while preparing for next year as his breakout.

Wright and Vickerson can put some heat on the passer from their wave DT position. We need a nose tackle still though.

Well sometimes those 6th, 7th rounders just dont work out, go figure.

Vickerson looked good in preseason. He could have played this year but was put on IR. He has been working out all year and getting ready for next year. I was really impressed with him, I can't wait to see him next year. Every player Saban drafted will be starting by the end of next year.

I think putting Vickerson on IR says that Miami has plans for him. This draft seems to be turning out really well. Hope it continues, but two drafts in a row this good is not the norm.

one draft where you have a 3rd and 4th rounder starting isnt the norm

but hey we did it :D

Although this year Saban still knows a lot of the College talent. That's part of why some new coaches do well in drafts. The rest is his rating system and preparation, and his good old eye for talent.

Vickerson should bounce back form his injury and he impressed in Training Camp and the Pre Season.

I have wondered about that and Gofins makes some good comment on it. It occurs to me that Saban is pretty clever and would not hesitate to manipulate the IR list to serve his roster interests. I agree with Gofins about future plans. Nick is loading up with future depth in every way possible.

on Alex comments about 3rd and fourth rounders starting is good, well, you could question that. Are we so bad that they are the best we have for now or are they THAT good. My homer self thinks Saban was skilled and made astute choices but only time will tell.

I think everyone from Saban's last draft will be successful and have a bright future, with Matt Roth being the biggest question mark. I think they he will come through and be the guy who needs more time to expected to become a good player in the NFL. This draft has been one of our best since I can remember, especially considering what Saban had to work with. Right off the bat, he didn't have a second round pick (which would have been the #2 pick in the second round) and had AJ Feeley instead.

Kevin Vickerson is not a major concern in my opinion, if anything a pleasant surprise on his preseason's performance. The only thing that I am concerned about was his torn ACL injury (I believe that's what it was), if he can successfully come back to playing at the level he was in preseason, I think he succeed as a good DT for us in the very near future.
