I picked all our players being healthy for the whole season. I think talent in the NFL is pretty even. The teams that stay the healthiest and are the deepest do the best.

I would say stay healthy, but that is already shot because Will Poole is out for the year. :(

True but from here on out wouldn't be too bad either.

i vote qb mvp play - imo the biggest question mark from the most important position

Injuries happen for every team, as long as ours arent out of hand it will balance out compared to the other teams. So, I picked MVP play from the QB. Obviously we can get great play out of a good amount of defensive players, the RBs, McMichael and Chambers, and many of the OL seem to be coming along. So, if you add a MVP QB to that mix, I think we could contend deep into the playoffs. That is the one BIG missing element from the team right now.

Definitely MVP play from our QB. That would mean Chambers, Boston, Booker, McMichael, and the o-line would be healthy for the most part. But the defense might not stay healthy which wouldn't be good but MVP play from our QB would mean we are set at QB for several years to come and could use draft picks and FA money elsewhere next offseason. Marcus McNeil? Andrew Whitworth? Or defense, Michael Huff, Chad Greenway, anyone?

QB needs to play MVP style..especially with our WRs that we have.

This is a no brainer.

It's DEFINITELY MVP play from the QB. If a guy or two go down for the year, Nick Saban is like Belichick in that he will find the best talent to replace that player.

i.e. Travis Daniels for Will Poole (Poole actually may be "Wally Pipped" this year. Daniels could be better.)

If we get great play from the QB, with our revamped running game and o-line, the sky would be the limit for this team.

I voted healthy players all year. Although QB is the most important position, football is a TEAM sport, if all our players are healthy and 100% contributing that brings a lot of playmaking to the table. That in itself will hide QB inadequacy (ala Bradshaw, Steelers)

I had to really think this one through in light of the implications of each as far as this year's performance and the future.

2003 DL performance was tempting, but in light of the age of those guys, and the fact that we've got some potential young hosses to step up in the future, I had to pass on this one. Based upon the open ended premise of the question, it could be solely due to Carter / Chester / Traylor, and we could end up with all of them retiring, or moving on in FA next year. Nice for a one year experience, but not great in the long term.

Health throughout the season - well, that's the first thing that you really hope for, but I had to consider that we've got pretty good depth every where except DB. So, I hope we DO stay injury free (Lord knows, we're due from a break after 16 on IR last year ... un-frickin-real), but I think we've got the depth that we could handle an injury or two and there's nothing included within the response which mandates whether the injury is season or career ending, so I passed on this one.

MVP QB Season - Tough. Yeah, that would be great and my second choice, but based upon the question, it could be Gus or AJ. Gus isn't going to be a long term solution here and, I'm also one of those guys who doesn't think you HAVE to have hall of fame QB, just a productive and efficient QB - something we haven't had in 11 years.

Trade RW for #1 in 2006 - Yeah, that would be the best thing for the franchise, overall, given our glut of competent RBs.

Deep into the play-offs I might add. QB is the real question for this team. The OL looks like it will be decent or better under Houck, the defense will be good under Saban, the offensive weapons are there, which leaves.... QB play to make or break this season.

Considering what kind of performance it would take for our QB to win MVP over Manning (for example), I have to go with that-QB has MVP type year. Incidently, should monkeys fly out of my butt and our QB were to win MVP, Saban would most likely win Coach of the Year.
