Even if Pace signs don't be surprised if we don't go with Chris Long with the pick. JT and J. Porter are both getting old and neither are going to be here much longer, so why not Chris Long? I still believe Chris Long is worthy of the #1 pick and would give us added pass rush that is needed badly. Not only can he stand up and play OLB in the 3-4 but he can also put his hand in the ground and play the 5 technique and play effectively. Chris Long will be one of those players that can get lined up pretty much anywhere on the line of scrimmage and get pressure on the QB. The blue print was set on how to beat the Pats... pass rush, pass rush, and some more pass rush. Chris Long would be a safe and smart pick IMO.

Solomon Wilcox and the other NFLN crew basically just shared this same sentiment.

I personally would still really, really like to take Chris Long. If any JT trades go down (like the rumors are starting to say), we'd have tons of picks to get help in the secondary and on the OL, which are the two deepest positions in the draft (ones that usually aren't too deep either).

I think we will all be tweaking our mocks this weekend!

I think it's less certain that the Dolphins will select C. Long...especially if they do sign Pace. Right now the Dolphins are missing tackles.

Please. Just give up on Chris Long and Gholston already. Its between Jake Long and Matt Ryan now

Well unless Ryan shows something on his pro day that convinces Parcells and Ireland that he is a top flight QB I don't see him in the mix. His name will be thrown out there more for possible trade situations. Jake Long..... well.... with how deep this tackle class is this year I wouldn't be too sure of Jake Long going #1 overall. Yes, he clearly is the best tackle, but you can get good value with a guy in the 2nd rd, so I wouldn't jump to any conclusions. I would rather see us trade down than pick Ryan or Long (Jake), the only way I see us picking #1 is if we're selecting Chris Long.

So don't you mean, don't be surprised if we DO take him???

Looks doubtfull. At the moment our front three are Taylor, Ferguson, Starks. Linebackers Porter, Crowder, Torbor and if he comes Pace. With Taylor being a end/linebacker along with Pace, I cant see us bringing in another player like that.

However if Taylor gets traded, then we may well end up with Chris Long. Taylor is the key at the moment IMO.

I'm with you IF we get Pace signed.

I still think a left tackle can be had at 32 this year so Ryan becomes a slight favorite over Jake Long in this scenario, or a tradedown of course(which may become very possible)

Remember, don't forget the Al Grogh connection. He said that C. Long is the best college player he's ever coached, for what it's worth.

I think you are the only person on this planet now that thinks Ryan is still in the mix. Must be a lonely place.

Mix is a very polite way to put it. Ryan has had this sewn up ever since Parcells was hired. No way was Parcells going to pass up a 6'5' prototype QB. He's got his Drew Bledsoe waiting there at number 1. No way he passes it up

Yeah. The tradedown is the only thing I think could derail Ryan being drafted. I think the odds of a tradedown are about 5% so I wouldnt count on it. There are so many tackle prospects this year that I think you're going to be able to get a very good OT in the 3rd round this year let alone the 2nd

Worth about the same as the Basketball heeadcoach's opinion on Cam...Nothing.
