...all our expectations, can we (Dolphins), in two or so years, ride to the Super Bowl or do we need more talent on our team?

I think we are on path to contend soon regardless if Pat White makes it or not, the structure is in place. Of course part of this process would include a little more talent and lot of players meeting or exceeding their expectations.

Pat White is not going to carry us to the Super Bowl. He will add a spark to the offense, but he is not a guy you expect to carry you all the way. Heck, he isn't even thought of as the long term quarterback of the future. That title belongs to Henne.

We just need to keep building the team and getting better depth. A strong defense and a balanced offense will eventually take us to the Super Bowl. White is a spark player, not someone to hang your dreams of a championship on. He will help us get there but we need a solid team from top to bottom. We are not there yet, but we are getting closer. I do think we can "compete" for a championship this year, but a real solid run probably won't happen until next year or 2011(if there is even football that year).

exactly he was brought in to be an element in the offense not the every down qb. that is henne's job

personally I like Chad Pennington as the future qb..havent seen much of Henne to deem him the future..the future how? We have 2 second round backup qbs..

I like Pat White but we can make it to a Superbowl with even a lackluster quarterback. Look at the Bears with Grossman, the Titans with Kerry Collins, the Bucs with Brad Johnson. All lackluster quarterbacks with stifling defenses and great Lines. Pat White developing into a great quarterback and leader would benefit this team but without the great lines and defense we'll have nothing to show for it, ala Marino's days.

I agree. I do think that Pat Whites benefit to us might be some what of a spark that we may need to get us over the hump on the scoreboard. In the years passed we've lacked that quick score factor...Big plays...I think the FO will be focusing on this heavy...we have alot of options is scary...Ricky Ronnie...break out run plays...Bess..Ginn..Turner...all promising

Pat White, even if he turns out to top expectations, is only a small piece. We've got to get better in the trenches.

The only thing we really know is what we have returning from last year and any starters we picked up as free agents from other NFL clubs. I was glad we were able to hang onto our core players except for the secondary. We really only lost Goodmen and Hill and both were very injury prone until last year. So loosing them as well as they played last year may not be as big of an issue if they returned this year because the likly hood of them IR increases the longer they hung around. Remember Micheal Lehan we resigned last year a starter he had one really good uninjured year from the year before with the Dolphins and sure enough he signs a 3 year contract and he went down. I would not be surprised to see Goody and Hill go down for the Broncos this year. Believe me we do have the potetial to have a bunch of guys on IR this year. But I do beleive the secondary is much improved because of that issue alone. Next stop interior offensive line.

It's going to take more than a gimmick offense for this team to win a Super Bowl. The defense needs a lot of work, hopefully we've solved our secondary woes this off-season with the addition of Wilson and the addressing of DB needs in the draft. But that remains to be seen. The defensive line also needs work. Until those are fixed this team is going nowhere near the Super Bowl.

Pat White is 'A' piece of the puzzle... Not 'THE' piece of the puzzle... He is a nice player who can add a dimension to the offense as well as depth... But he is not the 'answer'.

In fact dare I say it we are still more than a QB away from contending...

I think we have changed the culture significantly... I do think we can challenge most anyone on sundays and we have certainly made Miami an attractive place to play for free agents again...

We have some nice pieces at starting spots but I still think we are far too thin in far too many areas as there is a significant drop off in talent between starters and the guys behind them. Actually QB, RB and TE may be the ONLY places where we do have real depth. I would love to say that the defensive backfield with the additions of Davis, Smith and Clemons is also looking much better but regardless of expectations they still have yet to play a down.

when we wake up tomorrow there are two certainties in life... The world will turn... and EVERY NFL team will suffer injuries and have to rely on depth in key positions to make a run.

I say this team is well on it's way to be a contender, The Fins are in year 2 of a 3 year plan, a lot of hole were filled this off season and the draft, but there are still holes that need to be filled, I agree that QB, RB, and TE we have the depth we need. Other area's like D-line and O-line are getting close but still need a few more bodies each. The main focus next off season and draft will be NT and LB's the fins are thin in these 2 areas and age is a huge factor as well. WR's and DB's have been addressed but as most of us knows it takes time for those units to jell, so the jury is still out on that area. I believe we will contend this year, but should make a serious run in 2010.

If Pat White exceeds and nobody else does, we ain't going anywhere. To be honest Pat's total failure probably wouldn't have a huge impact on the team. It's the other guys that could really make or break things.
