If Pats Cut Ocho Cinco Would Phins be interested ???

If Brady and Welker as an attention-deflector couldn't bring out the best in him, IMO that's all you need to know about the state of Chad's skill set erosion. He'd only be taking time and a roster spot away from maybe the next late round or UFA Cruz, Colston or TJ WhoseYourMama, back in '01. Consequently, if I were an (evolved) octopus, I'd give this notion 8-thumbs down.
If we are an established team missing "that piece" then we might get into the debate about how good he is, how much he has left, etc.

In our position we need to develop talent that will be here longer term so it makes the whole discussion regarding what kind of player and guy he is a moot point.

There's two kinds of people in this world,

an easy way to tell them apart is when they say they want Chad Johnson on their team. :chuckle:

Seriously, there was a time when his ability ALMOST made it worth putting up with his ADD riddled, 9 year old personality,
but that was a few years ago.

I remember watching a clip of him practicing with the bengals years ago and he looked like a machine he was so good. The problem was that his coaches let him get away with being a child because of his talent and he has never recovered.

I know he has some character issues and he's a player that thrives on attention
But Football wise i think he still has a very quick first step he could eat up some slant routes
i think the PATs are just overloaded at WR and didnt really utilize him

I say bring him to Miami and give him a shot why not

Here is the same NO that I used when this was brought up a year ago and the year before that.

I really really hate these knee jerk "what about this guy" / "let's give him a shot" blah blah threads.

Man people tend to forget the guy is really passionate about football, sure he has his diva attitude which it seems he has toned down. But it's not really a bad thing hurting his team footballwise ala per se TO. Owens destroys and divides locker rooms, chad is likeable and a hell of a team player. The guy in his cincy days was a great great but really great route runner, he might have lost some speed, but you don't need blazing speed in the WCO judging by our wr corps. He has great hands and his skills set fits perfect with our offense. So im all in for him, always been a fan of his. I don't think he is washed up at all, he just is sitting behind welker, branch, edelman which is like a mini welker, + Gronk & Hernandez, he is never gonna see the field. Plus those guys which have been in that shotgun offense for more than 3 years each, so its just a really bad situation for him. That offense from what I heard is very complex in every aspect, no wonder when mastered its a thing of beauty. But anyways heck yea im all in for him, hopefully he wouldn't dissapoint but first he will have to get cut, and I doubt he will, he will just get traded away for a 7th pick to a NFC team...
+1

Honestly, yeah if he was cheap enough. I still think the biggest reasons he isn't playing well are a.) he's playing second fiddle to Welker and b.) he hates the Patriots. Dude has been a Dolphins fan his whole life. I think if we got him cheap and let him compete, it could work out for us. If not, we'll just cut him.

Or the biggest reasons were because he couldn't learn the offense! No one ever accused Johnson of being the smartest player on the field and besides running outs and fly patterns he's pretty much done, and I don't even think he has the legs to beat too many defenders these days. He was excellent in the Cinci system with TJ, but outside of that his best days are behind him. Oh yeah and I highly doubt a player wouldn't play well just because they hate the team they are playing with and love another in the division. Egos aside Johnson was a pretty good competitor at one point.

comeon man... seriously if you can't put up decent numbers with brady throwing to you... you're done.

This has been can only catch 15 passes for the whole year with Brady at QB. What's he going to do in Miami besides run his mouth and be a sideshow on Hard Knocks?
HE HAS NOTHING LEFT IN THE TANK.

Ochoa Cinco is done which was clearly evident last season with Brady. He excelled at marketing himself far more then playing football. I can't even say I would take him in his prime because he didn't have one. All hype, no substance.

A simple 30 second google search would have shown you just how ignorant this statement is. Why not research before you make such a hilariously inept statement?

Secondly, I'm cracking up laughing at someone saying Ocho isn't playing well because he hates the Patriots. Do you GENUINELY believe that? I mean, honestly? He is good friends with Belichick. He can't retain the offense. He was a tremendous route runner with great hands and VERY good speed while in Cinci.

which part was ignorant? If you're referring to the part about not having a prime... I do agree with you, in his prime ocho was a great wr, top 5 even.

Pass. He needs to focus on his reality tv show, football hasn't been his priority for a few years.

02-07 is when Chad was at his prime stages.

02 (2nd year in the NFL)- 69-1166-5

03- 90-1355-10

04- 95-1274-9

05- 97-1432-9

06- 87-1369-7

07- 93-1440-8

He then had a bad year in 08, can't explain why. Then came back with a decent year in 09 with 72-1047-9

So yes, Chad Johnson was a top 5 WR in his prime, It shouldn't be a debate. Now? I wouldn't touch him with a 10ft pole, he's done, he's old, he's not what Philbin wants in a player.
