Where is the reset button?
I know that BP drafted White, but honestly guys, I don't see how he fits in here. While he really didn't have much preparation for game day as a starter, he looked AWFUL on the field. Err actually he looked worse than awful. Like a deer in the headlights.
Personally, he is too small to be an NFL qb and must weight 150 lbs soaking wet. While we could do a Kordell Stuart experiment with him, I don't think he really fits in here. The problem is Miami admitting they blew a pick...
That being said, if Chad does come back, I don't think Miami can give him the reigns back no matter how he performs during training camp. This has to be Henne's team. I just don't see a team other than maybe the Browns or St. Louis or maybe even Carolina that could use Pennington as a stop gap measure.
I don't doubt that Pennington liked it here in Miami and honestly him returning as the backup would provide Henne with some more mentoring. I personally would have no problem with that and it gives us a solid backup in the case that Henne gets hurt so that we don't have to worry about Thigpen carrying the load. However, Thigpen could really come into his own as well leading to an interesting qb competition for the back up spot in training camp.
That again leaves White. I still don't see the guy becoming anything special in the Wildcat either. He just looks like Ted Ginn's brother except he will take a hit but when he does, he looks like he got killed nearly each time. You can bet though that after that unfortunate hit on him during the Steeler's game that he is going to have some hesitation for awhile when in the game.
Personally, I say we trade the guy for a 5th rounder or so. Just break ties with him and let him move on to a better situation. He isn't going to play here anyway in the near future on a regular basis. I know we will take some flack from the "experts" and that would force our F.O. to admit he was a project in the 2nd round butI keep trying to see where he is going to fit in and I cannot see it.
Certainly, while the Wildcat or whatever you want to call it has done us well, I just cannot see Henne and the phins going back to that like we did this year considering how well Henne performed while Brown was out. Or at least in a capacity that get's white onto the field.
So, if Pennington wants to come back, I say we bring him back. Even open it up for a 3 way qb competition. I doubt Henne will lose the job but it will keep him motivated if he see's us re-sign Pennington. That leaves White as the odd man out and if we moved him to WR, that is going to be another 2-3 years to see if it pans out. Bess, Hartline, Camarillo and even Ginn are light years ahead of what White would be at WR.
Just some thinking. What do you think?
