Even though he has proven to be the most accurate passer in the NFL, there are always questions to go with the accolades. Is his arm strong enough? When will Chad Henne take over, and what if Pennington falters this season? Is he only doing well because of the "Wildcat" formation and the presence of Ronnie Brown? Let's quickly answer those: His arm is fine; Henne won't be overtaking Pennington soon; and no, Pennington is a product of determination and hard work.

Loved what Pennington accomplished last season. That said, the jury is still out as to whether he's more of an asset or a limitation as the starting QB. He's both - without question. If Pennington plays like a QB that can take us to the SB, 2010 will be an interesting decision. I think, though, we'll see Henne in 2010.

If we are content with the offense that Chad leads then yeah...If they want to go the gun slinger route, they will activate henne or white.

Have to say I feel sorry for Pennington. Even when he leads his team to the playoffs, (only signing in late August), it still does'nt seem to be enough for some people. I really dont understand people's burning desire to have Henne as starter and to cast off Pennington because of the Ravens game.

There should'nt even be a question as to whether Pennington starts the season.

No surprise here, Pennington was the reason we did so well last year.

It obviously depends on what Pennington does this year. If we don't go to the playoffs, the job has to go to Henne IMO. If Pennington gets us to the playoffs but we don't advance, again, I think you have to go to Henne.

On the other hand if we win a playoff game or two then Pennington has to be the favorite going into 2010.

We're talking about 2010, not 2009.

Pennington understands his role within this team. He was brought in to keep the seat warm until Chad Henne was ready to take over. Pennington is one of the biggest factors of us going 11-5 last season. Henne is the future of this team! He will be given control of this team next season.

The only REAL quarion reagrding Chad has been durability. His lack of arm strength has always been overblown, when healthy he is a winner, when he's not his teams struggle.

it's a good problem to have..it all depends on how we do this year..and what if pat white develops quickly?? but if pennington can remain healthy and has an mvp year like last year how can he not be the starter in 2010..and pennington came in with 3 weeks left in preseason last year and with a lot of questions at wr..plus he had the whole year in the system and the offseason conditioning program..at least our qb battle isn't between fiedler and feeley or beck and lemon..

Quite frankly, if Henne doesn't beat out Pennington in 2010...we have another 2nd round QB bust on our hands...

You guys will be lucky if henne is as good as Pennington, I wouldn't root for henne to take his job at all if I were you guys.

I've never really understood the corelation between Pennington and the Wildcat. I hear it alot that people think Pennington somehow benefitted from the formation and that it masked his weaknesses... Umm? come again?

The Wildcat is a formation which did not involve Pennington... Add to that we went to it probably 10 percent or less of total offensive plays... This means that Pennington was under center 90 percent of the time. This also means that teams could 'stack the box' as much as they wanted as all the Penny detractors LOVE to exclaim... Exactly how did the Wildcat make things easier for Pennington?

Also, when the Wildcat ceased to surprise and people began to adjust... PENNINGTON STILL MOVED THE CHAINS.

Why can't people accept the fact that Pennington is much harder to stop then they would like you to believe? Why is it so hard to give the man credit and not look past him? Henne will need to WIN the job outright... Exactly as it should be. People who would annoint Henne now or a year from now before he has proved ANYTHING and especially after the season Pennington just had... Need to have their heads examined.
