If Ricky Williams is on the team this season what should his role be?

What will Ricky's roll on the Dolphins be next season if he is still with the team?

I hope we trade Ricky for some good young talent at a need position for us, but if we don't, what do you think his role will be with the team? Starting over Ronnie Brown? Same as we did last year having them split carries pretty much equally? I think he will start next season and get the bulk of the carries if he is still on the team.

John Clayton on ESPN said Saban likes him so much that he could actually be the starter next year. Don't know how much credence you give to those ESPN dudes.

I gotta say 50-50 at this point with the majority going to the hot hand(legs).

I can't see diverting that much away from the way we ran things last year.

Trade should be out of the ? we can't get what hes worth maybe next year. and we will have 2 RB's with 1200 > 1400 yards each. That will win some games. These guys ran for 1650 yards i know ricky missed 4 games and ronnie missed maybe 3 . So for the price we can't lose

I'd love to see Ricky and Ronnie sharing carries next year and certainly think they can be the top rushing attack in the league provided we can upgrade the line a bit, but to think they can each have 12-1400 yards each is unrealistic to say the least.

What do you mean?

EDIT: I am assuming you think that "freedom" itself is not cheap and you value it. So, you contradicted yourself with the entire quote. "freedom should not cost freedom" itself states that freedom DOES cost freedom therefore "freedom" itself by default does not come cheap!

I said 50-50 but I would think about that more in terms of touches than carries, the guy is a heck of a receiver.

Actually, I think that John Clayton is one of the more honest and down to earth NFL reporters out there. Most of ESPN's "analysts :rolleyes2 " are too biased and full of BS for my liking. I tend to rely on the internet for up-to-date information. :dolphins:

If Ricky and Ronnie line up together in training camp, I think Ricky will beat Ronnie out for the starting role. HOWEVER, before everyone jumps the gun, I think they will be competitive with each other all season. Ronnie will want to start and will probably get to start sometimes. It will depend on who is playing better each game.

I think that if Nick Saban can't unload Ricky this off-season he will showcase him this upcoming season to increase his value so we can trade him next year for fair market value. Some teams will shy away right now because RW has only been back briefly and was also only playing on a limited basis. If Ricky is handed the starting role he will not let us down. He is capable of gaining 1200+ yards even splitting carries with Ronnie Brown 65% Ricky/35% Ronnie. Saban knows Ronnie is the future and wants to trade Ricky if he can get a fair deal for him. If he can't now I guarantee he will next year if Ricky has a good season.

the longer we have the ricky, the longer ronnies career will be. having him will help keep ronnies legs fresh until hes named the full time starter.

If he is here, they will split carries, but Ricky will likely receive more carries and be the "primary" back.

At this point, he is just more consistent... and more likely to get it done in key situations. Ronnie is a nice change of pace, but he hasn't shown the ability to hit the hole quick enough to be able to pound it out when you are trying to protect a lead like Ricky has.
