So, say Ronnie doesnt resign with the team. First, is ricky worthy of being a number 1 again or would we get one in next year's draft?? maybe will ricky even keep playing if ronnie left. this has me worring. im pretty hopeful that he will resign but if he doesnt then im afraid of what our running game will become. then again, this o-line might be able to turn any RB into 1000+ yards a season anyways.

but i still think ronnie will resign anyways. maybe he will relize this team is a contender now and will resign for less money.

i can only hope for the best.

If Ronnie leaves we get ourselves a new RB.... ain't much to it. Ricky stays a number 2 and helps bring along the rookie.

I'm going to call it now.
The dolphins will use their first or second round pick on a running back to compete with Ronnie or they might not resign him.
Also, Patrick Cobbs could turn into one hellava back.

Ronnie held out as arookie I doubt we get him for a favorable deal.

The worst part about the Ronnie situation is the Dolphins are damned if they do and damned if they don't

If Ronnie has a great year (especially if this Wildcat fad is as big as everyone says) he will demand top RB $. I think he would be worth it, but our FO may not.

If he under preforms he is most likely also gone.

Unfortunately, I no longer see Ricky as a #1. Cobbs gets a lot of love on these boards but he is also not that type of guy.

We would be looking for a new RB somewhere else.
One thing that is on our side is there are a few big name RBs.
Jones-Drew, Brown, Parker, Sproles, Chester Taylor, Pierre Thomas (possible breakout year), Lendale, and Leon Washington.

So at least there are some bargaining chips in our corner, or (if worst comes to worst) some backup options. Not to mention rookie RB's tend to be able to thrive in the NFL. Plus we could always tag him.

We would franchise him for a year because that number is isn't that bad. That would give us another year to find a replacement or let RB prove he's the true elite back to justify a deal or at worst get franchised again. To be honest I would love the idea of franchising him a couple years in a row because we've all seen what happens to RB's once they get that second huge contract; they never ever live up to it. Unless he'd except a 3/4 year deal then that's the way I'd handle it.

We're drafting a HB in 2010, regardless ! I think Ronnie's skillset is unique and i don't want him to leave, but I'm fairly confident we will draft a back in the 2nd or 3rd next year.

I'd let Ricky, Cobbs & a 2010 4th round pick take up the slack. Make a big enough hole and you can get any number of guys through it. With the first three picks we'll need an inside linebacker, nose tackle & a guard.

I would not have minded taking McCoy over White with our second round pick

We will go DT and LB early and often next year.....And ronnie will be franchised...

Who else are we going to draft that going to be as good as ronnie...Come on!!!

We will not let Ronnie go... You guys do not remember that before he got injured 2 yrs ago, he was going to rush for 1500 + yds...Now with an improved O-line, I can't wait for this season to start..
He is also a great receiver and blocker...
I can also say that he is the face of the franchise......

Ronnie can be a top 5 back in this league. He doesnt have a lot of miles on him going back to his days of splitting with Caddy at Auburn not to mention the time he has missed in the pros. Hes still young, people act like hes getting old, we NEED to keep him.

He can do so much for this orginization- run, catch, block, throw, man the wildcat etc. Not to mention hes a great teamate and member of the community.

You try to keep a guy like Ronnie at all costs. Unless of course hes asking some astronomical cap number, then ill let Bill decide from there.
