Are any other fans going to the game, going to start the MAXIMUS chant? ;)

It was a suggestion someone posted on here after we drafted Roth. A lot of people thought it was a good idea. Can you imagine a home game with all 45,000 chanting Maximus. Brings a tear to my eye.

Won't work, too many syllables...I like where your head's at though!

How 'bout "Dupe, Dupe" for old time's sake.

I will be watching Monday's game with some of my fellow Colorado Phin Fans at Kelly O'Brians sportsbar in Colorado Springs. :)

Don't get overhyped with Roth. You have a perenial pro-bowler in Jason Taylor.

Matt Roth will more than likely NOT be 3/4's as good.

Saban's stated that Roth is a more-so 1 dimensional player for now. He needs to work on his strength and technique, along with the defense, so he can rush the passer. Once he gets a grasp of that, he may be able to filter around like JT.

The verdict is still out. I didn't see any IOWA games, but the guy didn't dominate like many are attempting to believe. Others have reported he's been ok thus far in training camp. I'd look for JT rather than Roth if you want excitement. I doubt Roth is a 10 sack guy.

i live in iowa and have seen matt embarrase O-lineman..his entire career..he is obviously unproven in this league, but there is no reason not to be optomistic.

Soo if you haven't seen an Iowa game... that means you've never ever seen Matt Roth play, right ? Well I havent seen him play yet either, but I have no reason to put any kind of limitations on a guy who was a dominant college player, not to mention being somewhat considered a steal as a SECOND rounder. I do know MAtt is easily capable of a 10 sack season, maybe not his first year... but if i think he is capable then i can't doubt he'll produce immediatley.

And as for the "Maximus" chant, I guess it will hafta grow on me. It's kinda un-original and would fit 200x as well if his name was Max. However, if we can actually get a crowd chant going in Dolphins Stadium someday then I'm all 4 it.

For some reason, this whole nickname thing embarasses me. The guy has yet to play an NFL down and we're already making up monikers and chants for the man. As much as I don't like this whole nickname business, if anyone should be given the nickname "Maximus" it should be Ray Lewis who would watch Gladiator before every game. In Ray's case, it would fit. If I was Matt Roth, I would not be feeling it at all since I don't see the connection.

Matt Roth may not be the biggest DE I've seen, but he gets off the ball very quickly. Yesterday, he showed that speed on drills, and if he gets stronger, he should be a force in the pass rush department....

He's smaller than I expected, but his relentless motor makes up for that....

PHINZ RULE!!!
