If Roth Gets a Sack on Monday.....

I am not a Hawkeye fan but I watch a lot of Big 10 games. Roth caught my eye early on and I followed him a bit from there. He will be something.

I hope when you mentioned "45,000 fans" that you meant at Iowa, b/c I hope we have a lot more then that at Dolphins Stadium.

It's fair for you to think Roth won't be that great this year, but none of us have proof. I've never seen many Iowa games, and since you NEVER have, I think it's safe to say you shouldn't voice your opinion too loud on someone who's team you've never seen

Don't get overhyped with Roth. You have a perenial pro-bowler in Jason Taylor.

Matt Roth will more than likely NOT be 3/4's as good.

Saban's stated that Roth is a more-so 1 dimensional player for now. He needs to work on his strength and technique, along with the defense, so he can rush the passer. Once he gets a grasp of that, he may be able to filter around like JT.

The verdict is still out. I didn't see any IOWA games, but the guy didn't dominate like many are attempting to believe. Others have reported he's been ok thus far in training camp. I'd look for JT rather than Roth if you want excitement. I doubt Roth is a 10 sack guy.

Well if you ask any GM in the league I'm sure they would tell you they would love to have a guy that is 3/4 the player JT is. Besides, JT was a one-dimensional player when he came into the league. Plus, any Michigan St. (like me) or Michigan fan will tell you that Roth has had some dominant moments the past couple years.

Wow, great write up considering you have never seen him play. I have watched everyone of his games and you are way off. Now will he get 10 sacks his first couple of years probably not. It won't be for lack of effort that much I will guarantee you. Before he is done Matt will be at same level as Grant Winstrom. Those two are very simular. Take it for what it is worth. Remeber Matt was a LB his first year and a half at Iowa and has only played DE for 2 years.

I saw matt roth play when they embarrassed my gators in the bowl game last year...he is a big, mean kind of good. Olineman at UF are usually pretty darn good and I would pose them as a solid comparison to some NFLers...so if he can do that with that kind of caliber opponent, then I think he will tabulate to very good things at Miami. Not to mention he has a good mentor in JT. Alex brown was just like him(roth)...tenacious and relentless...and now brown in up to about 8-10 sack a year at chicago...so...I'm thinking it'll work out for us just fine.

I have watched Roth his entire college career. Dominant. Doubled teamed and held
most plays his junior and senior years. He was as good as people say he was in college, but there are plenty of great college players that never make it. Roth however, works his *** off and as everyone already knows, has a motor that never stops. He should do very well and become a fan favorite becuase of his intensity and his personality. However, onlytime will tell. As far as the MAXIMUS chant, a Hawkeye fan named Scothawk has a website and he put together a video with footage of Roth, with the audio from Gladiator. The video started the Maximus chant for Roth.

I mean still the guy has yet to play a game in a Dolphins uniform and people are still going nuts about him???? Maybe someone could create a Matt Roth website and call it shortarms.com? He has a long way to go and not a long time to get there.
