I've read lots of mock drafts, some by amateurs and some by professionals, or at least they think they are, and I notice Spiller dropping sometimes to the Patriots at 22. My questions is imagine if with pick 12 we got Bryant or whoever you want there, would any of you trade up back into the first to grab Spiller at say 21?
I don't think he will last til then but if it happened would you trade back up and would you be willing to give up next years 1st to get him?

I know next years draft is supposed to be amazing so I don't think I would but Spiller is amazing so that is the scenario. So if not next years 1st how about 2010 2nd and 2011 2nd, would you do it then?

I just imagine having both Spiller and Bryant with our team, wow we'd scary on offense. yes I know defense would be hurting.

Edit:
One more ting, if you were willing to trade back into the first, how high would you be willing to go 14? 16? 17? This all depends on if you'd want Spiller

Oh and how about, is there anyone who is projected to be in the 2nd half of the 1st round that you would trade up for, who would it be?

For two second round picks yea I would move up if he is there 20 or later which won't happen

Not interested in Spiller.
im not high on spiller either but in the late 20's it would be hard to pass unless someone like Graham was there then we could get Dez Bryant, and Brandon Graham

Why? So we can continue to be mediocre and miss the playoffs due to poor defensive play? Sorry, not a fan of mediocrity here.

R&R,
I don't want to be mediocre either. That's why I asked the 2nd question. It started as Bryant and Spiller and then changed to any two players. The reason Spiller was my target is many believe him to be the most explosive player in the draft but he is still projected by many to drop into the 2nd half of the first round. Having an explosive offense can heal a lot of wounds on Defense as well. Just look at the Saints and Colts this year, the Cards Last and the Pats the year before. If we can score 90% of the time it puts lots of pressure on the other team which allows us to dictate the flow of the game. Our defense will improve just from signing Nolan and getting rid of Porter.

not gonna happen. But what is more plausible, since IMHO Spiller will be long gone, would be to move up in the 2nd and take BEST.

BUT I rather see to LBs taken first 2 choices....

Can't say I argue with 2 LBs. Any combo of McClain, Paul, Morgan, Hughes, Worlids, Edds, Weatherspoon, maybe even Hardy or Selvie in the first 4 rounds. I would be happy.

Spiller should be gone - and our interior core D is the achilles - we are old at OLB

I like Spiller, but half the people on this board wouldn't even be talking about him if not for Chris Johnson's huge year. Taking a RB in the first, when that's one of our strongest positions would be a huge setback for this team imo, and I mean huge when considering all the glaring needs on this team. RB's are a dime a dozen. Hiring Nolan is absolutely huge but it doesn't change the fact we still have a very bad and aging LB corp, big question mark at NT, and huge need at FS. Adding Spiller and Bryant isn't going to put as near the offense that the Pats, Saints, Colts, and Cards have, not even close. Not to mention as good as the Cards and Pats offenses were, they lost to a great defense, go figure. As good as the Saints offense is, their defense won them the superbowl, go figure. Saints had the number 1 offense last year too and they failed the make the playoffs. They improve their defense and they make the Superbowl, figures. The fact of the matter is, we set a franchise record for consecutive games of 30+ points before we lost Ronnie. Offense isn't the problem, though obviously a WR is needed, it's the middle of the defense that's the problem. It's inconsistent pressure on the QB that's the problem.

Would rather have McCluster in the 2nd than Best if we're talking RB's. And I agree with two LB's. McClain in the first and Jerry Hughes or Jason Worilds in the 2nd would be awesome and fill two of our biggest needs. Though I absolutely love Demaryius Thomas, and like Rejus Benn a lot too. Not to mention I'd be ecstatic if we landed A.J. Edds in the 4th round. Best coverage backer in the draft, and has good 3-4 size.

I'm going to disagreed as one of our strongest positions. It was last year. This year, Ronnie is coming back from another injury and has one year left on his contract. Ricky has one year left on his contract and showed wear and tear if he needs to carry the load. Cobbs is coing back form injury and is a 3rd down back at best and Hillard may have shown just as compable as him.

I think it was a strong position and may be a strong position if everyone comes back strong but its still a question mark. Runningbacks are a dime a dozen but great ones aren't. The way we are built, a great runningback would tear it up with our oline.

Still I do agree that our LBs need some help badly and would be very happy with 2 0r 3 backers in the first 4 rounds. Edds would be awesome next to Channing as would McClain. Hughes, JP Paul, Morgan, Kindle, Worlids, or even Hardy and Selvie in the 3rd would make us a much better team. 3-4 defenses ned to ahve lots of LBs and we have none. So I do agree was just putting out the question.

R&R is under the illusion that our backfield is in good shape. I think he's just afraid that he'll have to change his SN.

Here's another question for you and it's a better one.

Last year the Dolphins tried to trade Ronnie Brown to the Browns for Braylon Edwards. It didn't work out in the end, but it was on the table.

If C.J. Spiller gets to #12...would you take him, and then trade Ronnie Brown off to a team for one of these players at other positions of need that will not be free agents because of the lack of CBA?

Yes, yes. We need defense as much as we need offense. I know that. Everyone knows that. But, Vince Wilfork will probably have a franchise tag on him. Elvis Dumervil will have a RFA tag on him, same as Ronnie Brown. DeMeco Ryans will have a RFA tag on him, just like Ronnie Brown. D'Qwell Jackson, same thing an RFA tag.

What I'm saying is, what if dangling Ronnie Brown in a trade is the key to unlocking one of those players that would have been a free agent if the NFL had managed to negotiate a new CBA, but will instead be an RFA.

Would you draft C.J. Spiller then?
