...taking their time to consult thoroughly with all his doctors and giving him an exam and touching ALL bases to make sure they know EXACTLY what they are getting, going through extensive meetings with im and bringing in his agent and his family, doing all the things needed to land him-

WHAT makes any of think that if BY CHANCE he were to not come here, that they are just going to pick up the phone and say, "OK, come on down" and give away a HIGH draft pick on the spur of the moment for a guy whose team won't even let them talk to his doctors, who has an even more severe injury, who has legal troubles and demonstrated an attitude problem with his current team, and who has had near ZERO contact with us? Just take him sight unseen?

That ain't happening, folks. Some of you need to lay aside the Kool-Aid and realize this team is DIALED IN on Brees and they won't let him get away. He wants to come to Miami, Miami wants him, they'll work out the $$$ and the love boat captain can sit and stew in Minnesota or go sign with the Raiders.

Actually, you really have no idea either way.

They obviously appear to prefer Brees. We dont know whose injury is worse. Brees might be worse, and too boot, on his throwing arm.

Not to mention Culpepper fits the mold of what Saban has used at quarterback at LSU, and what both his OC's have had experience with.

I agree with CNC. We cant go wrong with Culpepper or Brees.

I'm not high on Brees...thought he was a very average quarterback that benfited from the talent in San Diego before his injury...hope he works out though

Thanks, I neede that. If only I could be sure. But I think it will happen.

If Saban is...that's good enough for me. :D

What talent in SD? Two years ago, Gates was an unknown. They have a great running back but that's about it. He made the most of the talent around him. I don't think anyone would make the argument he's one of the all time greats but neither is Brday IMO and he's won three SB's. Brees has as much talent as Brady and can be sucessful here. We don't have to aquire the all-worl QB - just someone who has enough talent to win consistently and make the right plays.

At least we can look at Brees, he's not hiding anything. Hey, buy my car. It's expensive, but it runs great. I swear. No, you can't look at it first and the deal's final.

actually we do know.

Not a knock on Culpepper here, but Saben flew to see Brees and Culpepper initiated the conversation with Saben. If Culpepper was the 1st choice Miami would have already traded for him and Brees' visit would have been cancelled. Everything centers around Drew making the choice today (or sometime in the near future) between Miami and N.O. After that choice things will sort themselves out as to who else is interested in Culpepper.

Brees is the #1 choice and Culpepper is the 2nd choice if Brees goes to N.O.

Saban also flew to Orlando. Remember last years draft. Saban and Ronnie Brown never spoke until draft day. (At least thats what Ronnie Brown said).

while i agree both injuries are a concen, Brees is upfront about it letting the teams talk to Andrews and allowing tems own doctors consult etc.. it is a little diconcerting that the vikes wont let doctors chheck Culpepper out, ar they hiding something? like the injury will keep daunte out most of teh 06 seson and know tht will reduce his trade value?

if i am saban nd we lose Brees i would continue talks with the Vikes to ensure if he is traded, it is for the second or higher in a bidding war tht Sabn has no real intention of maatching. Basically forcing the Raiders to over pay or the vikes to come down, or force the vikes to release Daunte. Thy arent going to pay that bonus IMO so if they dont come down or the raiders overpay they will be forced to release him. He is from fla and wants to be here, eveen more than Brees. I wouldnt give up a top 1 or 2 pick fro a guy that could end up being released. If we have t do that it would be overpaying, and aat that point I would trade for Ramsey and draft whitehurst or croyle if one of top 3 doesnt fall. restructure Gus' contract and let ramsey and Gus compete for the job. we need to upgrde qb, but to severely overpay and the risk of hurting the overall team isnt worth it.
