It seems like the FO is just going scorched earth mid-season. If so, they should just bite the bullet and trade Tannehill too. Get the ammo to get a franchise rookie QB to build around. The OL might take years to rebuild anyway, at which point Tannehill will be old and broken down.

Even with his knee, Tannehill could probably net you a 2nd round pick or late first given the dregs some teams are starting at QB. Heck, the Browns might just send a first for a proven thing. (They have a first from the Texans which will be a later rounder)

Problems with that:

-Gase likes Tannehill
-Tannehill's stock is low (at least lower) due to the injury and the questions that go with it regarding total recovery

Therefore the return on the move would not be as great as if he was healthy. Again, he's well thought of enough in the building that this isn't even a discussion and in this case the player doesn't fit the parameters of who's on the block at the trade deadline.

I like Tannehill, I think he is a good starting QB. I loved where he was headed before the injury, but when you look at this team now with all the questions, it almost make sense to trade him now. They are shipping away their best players for questionable picks. The OL is in shambles and will need a while to rebuild. And this FO hasn't proven its even capable of rebuilding the OL.

If Tannehill comes back, who knows if his knee holds up with the abuse behind this shoddy line... His performance might regress because of OL issues and then we'd just get nothing for him.

There could be some franchise guys coming out this year. We would have ammo to get in position for one. And just start over from the ground up.

Aside from the fact I disagree- he may have a bit of trouble passing a physical.

Fair point though

I doubt Tannehill's stock is low. I know here we really don't value him as a QB. But a few teams would easily give up a low 2nd and realistically a 3rd for him.

We trade one player today and it's a fire sale?

When you trade your pro bowl starting RB from a team centered around the rushing attack, it's a fire sale. And that's not even mentioning the potential trade of Landry.
