Most people seem to think that we need to completely rebuild the line in the offseason, that means 4 players - 2 Ts and 2 Gs. That is a tough road to hoe.

Would it be possible to focus on the tackles this offseason and roll with the interior line of Brenner/Pouncey/Jerry with Garner as a key backup? By solving the Tackle positions, would that also improve the interior line just enough to be effective next season?

Guard's an issue, too. John Jerry is a terrible run blocker and if you watched that Bills game, Brenner had to be replaced because he was being destroyed.

IMO if we move Pouncey to guard, sign Branden Albert, and find someone to play right tackle we're in decent shape. Nate Garner played fine at center in the two games he started there.

Now that there is tape on Brenner other teams have found his glaring weaknesses and exploited them. DTs in this league are getting very athletic and very good. OTs are important but I would also like to see Dallas Thomas compete at LG.

Get the OL figured out, get a seam threat TE while also re-signing Keller if he's healthy, and upgrade at safety and I'd be happy.

This is where we spend our money this offseason!! Can't replace every position but with just 50% better production from our line and our season is COMPLETELY different! More time for our offense and less time of the opposing team on offense. Our line has even made our D look worse than they are, they are just on the field SO much. They aren't super human so they get worn down. Our line is that bad, way too many 3 and outs.

If Miami had the tackle position solved this year, Miami is 10-5 right now, with 2 of those loses very iffy.

Miami offensive line woes go beyond the tackles, it is all about the scheme itself. Miami employs the zone blocking scheme but only one player actually fits that mode-Mike Pouncey. So it is a round hole-square pegs situation. You want to see a real ZBS, look at Kansas City and the Redskins. It is a thing of beauty to watch. The tackles and guards are so quick on their feet they look so unstoppable. Look at what happened when Miami added Sam Brenner to the lineup-the running game improves well until they ran into Buffalo. I think it is more about the guards than the tackles. If Miami are going to stick with the ZBS, they would need at least two really good OG- system fit guards of course. John Jerry is not a system fit guy, remember he almost didn't make the team last year but since Miami GM is so bad at drafting OL he sticks around for two more years. I believe this team will really turn it around if and only if they could get a couple more of good system fit OL. That would improve the running game which in turn means a balanced offense. I think our rbs are good enough.

Need to address the RBs. Only Miller possess an elite trait and would be a good compliment to another back (Tate) if the price is right.

we can't go into next season with the same LB corps as well. gotta find help there badly.

We're stuck with those LBs through 2014. The cap numbers pretty much dictate that.

Our defense is going to regress in 2014. We can either devote most of our resources there again (and probably still regress) or we can try to fix the offense.

That's how I see it, anyway.

If the other team knows ur snap count and is timing it then it won't matter how good ur o line. Saints ravens and bills all took advantage of it. It's not that big a deal when teams rush four but when you start attacking miami it's easy to see why blitzers are free. Our tackles are not fast to start with but you make it even harder for them to kick step out when cbs and olbs are already passed their shoulder while the ball is being snapped. Go back and watch the ravens game look at Suggs and how fast he is getting off the ball. I used my dvr to slow down and pause and there are multiple plays when Suggs is already going forward while Pouncey still has the ball in his hand snapping the ball backward. I thought they had fixed this cause in a few games Ryan was using a dummy snap count at times. You have to keep the defense honest. Miami has not done that at all.

I would much prefer to work inside out. We can not run the ball and that starts inside. Being able to run the ball will take pressure off the passing game and therefore allow the OC to mix it up more, right now, it's pass heavy and teams are just teeing off which just puts more pressure on the pass pro.

I'd prefer to go after Cyril Richardson from Baylor in the 1st who has incredible athleticism for such a big body and is well versed in Zone blocking, and not sure if he would be there, but David Yankey from Standford if we could trade up in the 2nd.

I believe Giacomini RT from Seattle is a Free Agent next year and I'd go after him big style. Leave McKinnie at LT for now and try and find his replacement - could actually be Richardson bouncing out to LT.

On the O-line, we definitely need the tackles fixed, but pressure up the middle has been an issue as well. I think Guard is a position of need as well.

What I think we have now, in McKinnie, Clabo, Jerry and Brenner is some depth....but not a starting line. I would consider keeping some of these guys (based on contract situations) as added depth, but would look to upgrade both Tackles and at least one of the guards. I have seen suggestions of moving Pouncey to Guard, which may or may not be an option, but I don't think I would do that if the only issue is his cadence is being telegraphed. I would work on that since it is a coaching issue. If he is just better suited for Guard....then make the switch.

This offensive line needs to be built with some speed and run blocking ability. I think our RB's are better than they appear....but our run schemes are poorly done (running out of the shotgun and diving into the line every play) and our run blocking by the O-line just doesn't create any space. Get better run blockers and I think Miller will get some big yards...

Tannehill has proven to be a good QB, we must protect him at all costs.
