Long at LT- obvious
Pouncey at LG- most athletic interior olinemen on the team, able to pull
Incognito at C- he played we'll here last year. Allows him to just use his brute strength
Colombo at RG- if theres a bright spot to this dud, it's that he MIGHT be okay in the run game
Carey at RT- he's our best RT. he's a terrible RG though

*- replace Garner and Murtha at RG and RT if need be but since Sparano is so damn stubborn with thinking these guys can get it done, at least mix them up to a more ideal fit

Guess they can throw stuff against the wall and see what sticks...but then again, Tony doesn't want to tinker this year =)

I like the idea with Pouncy at LG and Congnito at C...

though with the right side looking so leaky, I wanna say we need two natural tackles over there...since Murtha has been playing tackle anyways...how about Carey at RG, Murtha at RT, with Garner rotating Carey out for spells b/c of his bad knees and back?

Come to think of it, I really think we will need to run some unbalanced line for the short yardage game situations too, shifting Murtha to LT, Jake at RG, shifting Carey to RT during I-form, I-strong formations.

that has always been my dream scenario for the exception of columbo at rg, would prefer someone else there

Nope.

You drafted Pouncey to play center so let the rookie play center and leave Richie at left guard.

Incognito isn't a Center.... Pouncey is, no point in switching them in the 4th game of preseason.

Incognito was pretty damn good at center, and he's certainly much stronger at the point of attack. He lacks the athleticism of Pouncey, however. The line right now is just confusing and in shambles. Carey getting injured really, really hurt this team. It's a shame Jerry is so awful, if he played up to even a mediocre third round pick, we'd had a super line. Instead, we're stuck with Columbo and a half hobbled Carey

be patient and see what happens before the final cut-down. IF we are lucky we could trade a ****ty pick or Merling for an OL who could shore us up. the only good thing about sucking at a position is that other teams have a surplus

I DON'T have faith in Tony and his OL coach but lets just chill and see how things fall out on the personnel side

what I don't like is that more than a few teams can cobble a decent running game together with some scrubs in the face of mounting injuries, and TS can't do **** for years.

actually i watched both the carolina and the tampa games again. i did not go player by player but i did rewind several plays several times, and it looked to me like Murtha was getting pushed back and beaten more than colombo in pass protection. Also, if you look at the Tampa game several decent running plays were negated by penalties on ppl other than o-linemen including one on marshall and one on polite. What i did notice was that Pouncey actually missed a number of blocks in the run game. Im not knocking pouncey as he actually has been pretty solid for a rookie thus far, but just pointing it out. incognito has been pretty good. Colombo and Carey have had good and bad plays obviously - colombo does get beaten eventually and its obvious - but after watching several plays i wonder if its b/c of this offense - the passes seem to be quick and it seems colombo holds on long enough. Also - on the 3rd and goal play where henne tucked it and ran - i watched it several times at although at first glance it looks like hes under pressure - hes pretty decently protected and hartline breaks to the back of the endzone with perfect timing - that should have been a TD - not knocking Henne just pointing out what i saw there.

my main point is after watching both games and seeing the postives and negatives in both a "victory" and a "loss" it seems (surprisingly) that Tony may actually be right about the Line needing more time. They all have had good and bad snaps and it does seem they just need to gel better and get more reps. i'll give this current line up a few more weeks. Also, considering i saw murtha getting overpowered and losing 1 on 1's more than colombo - and holes still opening up in the middle and left sides even without one of the best OL in the NFL , i think that the return of Jake actually will make a rather large impact on the overall play of the o-line. lets hang in here.

Theres about 28 other teams with better lines than ours..Where are their excuses? So much excuses with this OL. "give the more time" ..we dont have any more time. seasons comin up and truth of the matter is. that whole "cohesiveness" talk is all BS..bottom line is.. 2 of the 5 guys (carey and colombo) just arent starters in this league anymore. you dont have to be an offensive line guru to realize this. Long and Incognito will be fine. Murtha looks like a probowler compared to Colombo and Pouncey is a rookie but he'll be fine

Dont you guys get it yet? They think they are smarter then everyone else. They really think they can fix this on there own>

I could be mistaken so please correct me if I am wrong because I am no O-Line Expert but i believe you generally don't have a lot of 6'8 guys at Guard so Columbo wouldn't work there. I think you generally have shorter guys at that position because they need to get low on run plays to drive guys out of the hole. It would be hard for a 6'8 guy to get low enough to maintain good leverage. But again I could be wrong

Gallery (6'7) has done well at G. It's rare, but it happens.

We're not moving anyone anymore, according to Sparano. For better or (most likely) worst, he's married to this lineup.

Chubby is right. I think the biggest change we are likely to see is Murtha at RT which, I am starting to doubt.

Tony believes this is an execution issue, not a talent issue. He clearly feels that between now and day one, the o-line will correct the errors that led to their poor performance against the Bucs. Love it or leave, that's the way it is.

It seems Sparano might be stuck in the past, believing that the Colombo of 2006 & 2007...when he was still well into his 20's and before he broke his leg....is the same guy he has now at 32 years old...post injuries.

I hope he's right...his career is riding on it.
