With #9 we’ll lost QB quinn and russell, WR johnson, DT branch, OT thomas and maybe S Landry….every elite prospect will be gone so why shouldn’t we trade down #9 pick for a first and second round pick between #15 and 20 ???
If some teams are interested we could add one pick in the second round and get one more very good player that we need – my draft would be:

Round 1 #15-20 Robert Meachem : has size, speed and skills to be our #1 receiver and will drop some pressure from chambers
Round 2 # 40 Joe Staley: the best LT prospect of entire draft (after Thomas)
Round 2 # 46-51 Marcus Mc Cauley: flashy CB with great body, not so good hands, could be an excellent safety
Round 2 # 60 Drew Stanton: good QB to be developed at the next level by Cameron
Round 3 # 71 Doug Free: great player to have in your OL as tackle or guard
Round 4 # 104 Turk Mc Bride: perfect DE in 3-4 scheme
Round 6 # 166 Travarous Bain: good CB and KR/PR
* Round 6 # 183 Paul Soliai: the type of mammouth DT we need in case Traylor can’t do it
Round 7 # 200 Aaron Fairooz or Matt Trannon: they’ve got size, speed and blocking ability, at the next level they could develop in good tight ends (we need one to replace Mc Michael and I don’t think Martin has enough catching ability)

* only if Wilkinson do not retire

Staley won't get to 40. He might not even get to 20. There is talk that Miami could consider him at 9. I'm not buying it, but he doesn't get to 40.

Pretty good but I don't see Staley getting past the Giants or Broncos in the 1st.

The one thing Martin can do is catch the ball. It's staying healthy that people knock him for.

im a meachem fan...saw him in the combine and on some other show on tv...the guy can catch.......seems like an all around good WR......like the staley and stanton pick but i doubt they fall that far.....im all for trading down if we can...im sure mueller will be trying come draft day

We need OL big time and I would be happy to see either Brown or Staley play for the phins. With that said, I think they both are reaches in terms of BPA at the #9 pick. If CaMueller sees either one of these guys as their first pick, we should definitely try and trade down.

Nice Boom

I have been waiting for one of the three of you guts to do an article on Staley. Might already be out there, but I havent seen it.
There has been much talk of us taking Levi Brown at 9, when I was hoping we would wait and take Staley in the second and pick up somebody else at nine...Guess that isnt realistic

Why not if you get another 2nd trade a 2nd and a 3rd to try to get another late first rounder?

No. I made it up in a canny attempt to fool you.

And no to 'Staley's problems'.

The more I think about it, I definitely don't see Drew Stanton being there at pick #60 in the 2nd, either, and he may not be there when our first 2nd rounder at #40 comes up, either.

All the teams at the top of the draft where some of the experts are saying Quinn could go (Detroit, Cleveland, Minny, Houston) have a chance to pick before us in the 2nd round, and I could easily see one of those teams picking up Stanton before he gets to our pick.

Only problem with the trade down theory is that if all "impact" players are gone, why trade up. I'm also a little concerned that Landry will be gone leaving Peterson as the main impact player. Obviously not a need spot for us, but he may be the one player that we can generate some interest from RB starved teams.
