If the Phins win the next two games, would everyone still be as pessimistic?

No matter waht you're always gonna get that kinda..

We play the next two games at home, and to be honest, week in and week out the way our defense plays, we're going to have a decent shot at winning, not a great one, but a lot more decent than if we had a mediocre or even "kinda good" defense.

Without the Lamont Thompson INT for a TD, the Tennessee game becomes a little closer, and without the Brian Simmons INT for a TD, you might even say we would have won the Cincy game. Thats how close this defense has been keeping us...and probably will continue to keep us, until they find that the situation is unworkable...and I don't think that time is yet.

If we stop throwing picks that are returned for touchdowns, we may win a few games...specifically I see potential to win the next two games...and I'm just wondering, if we did, would everyone still be on the oh-god-the-season's-already-over kick. Maybe so. Or maybe everyone will be entirely quick to point out that we're the new Patriots or the new Eagles, who lost a few at the beginning of the year only to end up really strong and contending for and/or winning titles.

Dichotomy on this board. Unfortunately we always end up somewhere in the middle. Not great and not completely crappy. If we had some sort of a running game or an efficient short passing game, I would say that we'd have a realistic shot of being a very competitive team, The int for tuchdowns aren't gonna happen every week, I'd be shocked if they did. However, I think our line may be too raw to see them gel sooner rather than later (here's to hoping DMac can make some sort of impact) and without Konrad, Minor and Morris in there helping Gordon carry the load, I don't see our rushing attack improving. Wierder things have happened, and I still believe that if you put Minor back in his 3rd down back role and split carries between Morris and Gordan we may have a formidable attack, but let's face it, this is the year of injuries for this team. And we don't have a Bellichick and a Brady to fall back on.
 
I'm a blind optimist, so either way SUPER BOWL BOUND! :D

FWIW I still dont buy that rebuilding crap

if you look on both sides of the football, our offense is very young, especially in the skilled areas. And on the defensive side, you have two aging linebackers and two aging defensive tackles. We have great young linebackers and great young corners.

Next year's draft is the deepest it's been for d-line in a while, so it's not totally out of the question for us to draft a DE, and a DT, and make a run after a RB and OL in the FA. The question is QB.
 
I think we have a chance to beat Pittsburgh, but even if we win two in a row, I don't think we can make the playoffs. 0-2 is a deep hole to dig out from.

So would it be any different if we won the first 2 and lost the next two? We would still be 2-2 regardless. We are still in the hunt. Just because we lost the first two doesnt make it that much harder to reach the playoffs.

Yes, it does. Look at the records...see how few teams have made the playoffs after going 0-2.
 
No.This is a very good Defense and the Offense will get better soon.Be patient.There are a lot of good players who need time to develop.
 
My Opinion is going to be more based on how they play then the actual wins, if they had somehow managed to pull out wins in their first games my opinion at this point wouldn't be different, yes they would be 2-0 and in the end that's all that matters but truthfully it would be a very ugly 2-0. The way the team i splaying right now I don't see them being able to beat the top tier teams in the conference once the playoffs begin.

So if they win these next two games and win them convincingly then yes I would have more hope, but if they win them because the other team played worse then no my opinion doesn't change that they are not a playoff caliber team.
 
Honestly, a lot would have to change for the better in order for the Phins to win two in a row. I just don't see it happening in the near future. I am still a fan but not expecting much anymore this year.
 
According to this one article I've just read there's a sense in the locker room among the players that one win is all they need...that one win can turn this thing around.

I tell you one thing, maybe to shake these players out of the prison of mediocrity, maybe they HAD to suffer through a bad stint like this to really bring out that emotion. Some of these players seem horrified. They aren't use to STARTING like this, they are use to finishing like this.
 
Wins are always good. Things look better, maybe better than they really are, after a win.

I think we have a good shot a beating the Steelers, with Ben getting his first NFL start that helps us. Then we need to find a way to beat the Jets.

Still, how good of a team would Miami be at 2-2 then? If those two wins came against the Colts and Pats? Then we could get crazy with the Super Bowl predictions. :D

I think the Steelers are an average team, and with a rookie QB, even below that. The Jets? The offense seems to be clicking for them, but I don't think they are one of the elite AFC teams. We can beat those guys, but that doesn't make us a true playoff caliber team.

I'd love to see the rushing game improve, the OL give Feeley another 1-2 seconds to pass. Improvment there would give real hope this team has started off slow and can actually get better as the season rolls along.

So, to win the next two games gives reason for cautious optimism, but hardly makes us world beaters.
 
If you can fix your OL and get a RB you may have a CHANCE at having a .500 season. Your D is decent. I feel bad for posting any kind of "smack" here, since you guys are pathetically depressed. I talked smack with the Chokeland Faders in week 1, and atleast they would come back with some good responses. I don't expect any from you guys. You need to buck up guys.

Our season is not looking great, but in our division we can go to the playoffs at 8-8. Therefore, things are looking up for us.
 
I'm with the "it depends on how we win" crowd.

If we blow Pittsburgh and the Jets out of the water, I'll be a whole lot more optimistic than if we win by less than 6 points. That'll mean that our offense has turned a corner and could be headed in the right direction. Either way I'm not thinking that either one will score more than 14 points on us. Our D kicks serious *** (still!).
 
I'm upset with how the season started. But I wouldn't go as far to say I'm being pessimistic. I still think we have a shot, we just need to get it together.

If we win the next two games I will be ecstatic. There will be new hope for the season, and the playoffs.

We must beat Pittsburgh, there's no other option.
