Knowing that AJ Hawk is a veteran of the league and probably has more football intelligence than any of the LB's on our roster currently, would it be worth a flyer to sign him to a contract if the price is right? He could be a good mentor to the young players and wouldn't be needed as a 3 or 4 down LB. Perhaps this past season in Cincinnati humbled him enough to know that he isn't the same player he was a couple of seasons ago and he would want to sign a one year "prove it" contract to maybe get another shot?

Wouldn't be awful, just not sure he has enough left to make it worth it on field.

He's old but he's a prototypical old school LB. He could be very useful on running downs and in the RZ. A lot of people say he isn't good, but if you're the all-time tackles leader for the packers I'd say you did ok.

Only for vet min to fight for backup job

Never came close to the players he was at Ohio, and now he is older, and will still be asking for far more then he's worth, but if he did by some miracle allow himself to be paid a prove it or shut up type 1 year deal (League min or very close to it), I would take a chance.
