Is he still available? Im not bashing anybody in the room here but I get so sick of hearing in the media or "In the wind" that the next scrub of the week is suddenly available. When feeley came on board we all thought well anybodys better then feedler! Even Tom Brady and Kurt Warner were at least on somebodys depth chart. But if a qb is out of work and or keeps getting cut or breaking down all the time then there probably is a good reason for it. I like what Saban said the other day. The qb's we have for right now are good enough for the system that we have. He's decided to make the best of it until somtime in the future im sure when he can pay for a breese or a phillips. Teams can get it done with out a good qb. Just take Baltimore and Tampa as some examples recent cases. So a "Team" can go pretty far if they can play together. Hopefully next season we can pony up some cash and finally get a gun slinger in here.

he was injured and just went under the knife but still doesn't mean that he's that good.

Couch isn't any good. But because he's a former #1 pick, he gets more attention than he deserves, from everyone concerned.

I know he was but some guys seem to get injured a lot too. Which can be a problem too.

The main reason is that he has been injured & hasn't been able to work out for anyone since his departure from Green Bay. His shoulder has been giving him a problem for a year & a half +. He's not bad but he's not great. He just needs to find an offense that would suit his strengths, which is the spread offense.

Gus is not your future. Should the fins get Couch, I still think Saban will still look to go either via the draft or FA for your future qb. Lienart , Omar Jacobs or FA to be groomed as your future fins qb while Couch, future back up. He's still young and could be a decent back up with the right coaching.

Who said he was "so good"? I haven't seen that anywhere on this site.

Yeah i don't think anyones said that he's so good,I've heard people say to give him a shot and i think that's a good idea because it can't really hurt.Plus he's a former number 1 pick, scouts must of seen something in him to draft him ahead of Manning.I'd like to see if Saban can bring it out.

Look at his stats when he was a starter... They aren't that bad. You factor in the coaching changes and the horrible team the Browns had and it's no wonder why he didn't succeed. Still, I am making excuses, but I'd like to see atleast what this guy has.

How about a guy drafted in the 5th round then traded for a 2nd round draft pick getting more attention. Sound familiar? Gimme a break...this guy isn't getting this attention because of where he was drafted in 99' he's gettin the attention because he has potential, wasn't given a fair shot(the worst team for 5 years in a row were the Browns..anyone would have sucked) and ost of all because he plays the most coveted position in all of sports period. Give him a shot...we have nothing to lose.

He wasnt drafted ahead of manning (different draft) he was however drafted ahead of mcnabb/culpeper I believe.
