Stephen Ross should make Dan Campbell the permanent HC.

I bet Ross wants to hire him right now as head coach

Do you really think he wants to do another head coach search and hire?

or worse...

MUCH WORSE...

Let T-bomb make that decision... :shakeno:

I still think we need the rest of the season to evaluate. He definitely making a case for himself and as I mentioned before regardless of what happens this season Dan Campbell won't be hurting for work any time soon but 3 games is too small a body of work. Take in point Larry Coker at the University of Miami and how quickly that went south after his first season. I think you just have to gather as much information as possible before making a final decision.

I could be mistaken, but I believe the Rooney rule applies when promoting a coach from interim to permanent head coach. It does not apply when naming an interim coach though.

He better NOT! That's one of the things that has gotten Mr.Ross into trouble before. Jumping the gun! Just wait for a full season evaluation. Dan Campbell if he's the real deal isn't going anywhere.

I suggested that he should be interm coach, I am firmly on the bandwagon - front and centre

Standing room still avaliable

If DC continues his run we will be in good shape. He looks like he could be the real deal.We shall see.

eh not an issue, you just quietly interview a janitor or assistant wr coach, thats why i dislike the [STRIKE]Rooney[/STRIKE]racist rule, promotes tokenism which i find very distasteful

this! a million times this :deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse::titanic::titanic::grim:

My question is this...at what point do we worry about getting him locked up so other teams don't start circling...e.g. we wait too long to make a decision and Houston offers him 6 million a year...is that even possible?

Give it a full season. You have to see how Dan Campbell handles a losing streak, a blowout loss, etc. And his initial fire and demand for violence may end up wearing thin on players & staff.

For example, Jim Harbaugh was a former NFL player, had a fiery personality, had initial success as head coach of the 49ers (went 44-19-1, including making it to the Super Bowl), but his fiery personality wore out his welcome, and was fired.

===============

..over time, his knack for pushing his players turned into pushing his players away.

“They just don’t want to be around you after a while,” Harbaugh said.

San Francisco announced his departure in December.

“He does a great job of giving you that spark, that initial boom,” 49ers guard Alex Boone said in his "Real Sports" interview. “But after a while, you just want to kick his a--. . . . He just keeps pushing you, and you’re like, ‘Dude, we got over the mountain. Stop. Let go.’ He kind of wore out his welcome.

I think he just pushed guys too far. He wanted too much, demanded too much, expected too much. You know, ‘We gotta go out and do this. We gotta go out and do this. We gotta go out and do this.’ And you’d be like, ‘This guy might be clinically insane. He’s crazy.’ "

If we beat the pats they should have Dan Cambell action figures complete with competitive Kung fu grip and sideline dip.

As for the HC thing- I'd like to see the rest of the season. Let's see how he deals with all the aspects of being a coach. So far so good though.

Yeah unfortunately this rule was made with the right intentions, but it must be pretty demeaning for a minority candidate to sit through a long interview and wonder if he is just there to comply with this rule?

Yeah the buzzards will start circling, but i think Ross can tell other teams that Campbell isn't available to be interviewed for other jobs.

Dan Campbell doesn't strike me as someone who would turn his back on an organization that gave him his first break to be a coach in the NFL. You're getting way ahead of yourself.
