And if we dump Culpepper, which vet would we possibly bring in to help Quinn? If we draft Quinn, I'd certainly like to see us find somebody who could show Quinn the ropes like Don Strock helped out Marino in his early years. I'm thinking that Brad Johnson would be a good fit...

tim rattay ? hes the oldest one out there that i can think of or maybe vinny testaverde if he didnt retire

if youre going to dump daunte and draft quinn, how about getting trent green to come in, he can start the first year, green is experienced and a good qb as a starter... however, i cant see this happening so its pretty irrelevant i think

It's no big secret that every rookie QB must have a god starter to follow, imagine this as a master-pupil thing. This way, Obi-Wan Culpepper will become the Jedi Master who will mold Padawan Brady Quinn into the use of the NFL force.

It's really quite simple. We give him the ball in 2007 and if he is in fact done with his football career, then we hand the ball to Quinn and basically call 2007 a failure. Then, in 2008, the ball is given to Quinn to start the year and we see if we found our start QB. Best case scenario would be to pull a San Diego and get pro bowl quality out of both of them.

C'mon man. Stop pretending to have down syndrome. Of course, Culpepper is our starter man. If we draft Quinn, he would start off 2007 as our 3rd string QB behind Culpepper and Lemon. Then maybe become the #2 QB in 2008. And then hopefully become the starter in 2009 or 2010 when Culpepper becomes 32 or 33 years old and is traded for a pick after having two or three superb seasons.

But really we need to stop daydreaming about all this. We have to stop pretending to not have noticed DET's recent transactions.

By DET obtaining Tatum Bell to split time with Kevin Jones and Foster to start at RT...DET is primed to bypass Joe Thomas or Adrian Peterson and take their future QB, Brady Quinn.

They have the 2nd overall pick in the 2nd round to pick either a C/G, OLB/DE, or a CB.

DET will be picking Quinn at #2.

Culpepper doesn't strike me as the type of individual who would gracefully accept the decision to draft Quinn. I suspect he would demand to be traded or released. I also would not be surprised if Coach Cameron feels that Culpepper was one of Saban's past mistakes that he simply wants to sever ties with.

In that case, who would be willing to trade for him and what could we get in return? Also, does anybody think there is any chance the Lions, Bucs, Browns or Texans would be willing to trade down with us in return for our pick and Culpepper (And, obviously, an additional pick or two depending upon the spot in the draft)?

Martz likes kitna and that is too early for Quinn to go. Joe Thomas is the safe, no doubt pick for the lions.

Some keep linking the possible drafting of Quinn directly to us not keeping Culpepper. I don't see the 2 being linked in any way at all.

If we draft Quinn, Culpepper will still be here and will still be given every opp. to resurrect himself.

I just don't buy that.

In addition, if Culpepper were to be so mentally gone that he would actually consider a rookie to be an immediate threat to him then he should be taking a hike anyway.

Look at how Wannstedt handled Huard. Look at how Saban handled Feeley (We also gave up a second round pick for him, but that didn't matter to Saban since the trade happened under Wannstedt/Spielman). Fact of the matter is that a lot of coaches like having their "own guy" at QB, so I obviously won't be surprised if Cameron dumps Culpepper in favor of his "own guy," whoever that may be.
