It's late I'm bored (a little buzzed)and was just wondering if you guys think we would of made the playoffs if we never traded Pat Surtain.We definitely needed secondary help this season.I know we needed to cut cap room before the season started so it's just a "what if" question to get your thoughts on it.
 
I don't really know if Pat would have been enough to win us one more game, but I think we'd all agree that our secondary would've been better with him. But at least we will be in better salary cap position without him, and have an ability to get younger and move forward at the same time.
 
Yes, we need help in the secondary but his contract would also have prevented us from bringing in some of the FA's we did.

Would having Pat been better than having Traylor, Carter, or Holliday??

Nope, we got Matt Roth, Crowder was our 3rd rounder, and we got Surtain for a 2nd.

Duh, your right. My bad. Still his contract would have killed us and probably would have altered our draft strategy.
 
Well technically we could have kept him this year and not gotten anything for him next year but yes we would have been in the post season. Madision had 1 TD thrown on him. We rarely were scored on by a run, so most scores were against the safety's, daniels, and howard. Surtain there we would have given up about 3 - 7 less points a game. And have a few games where we gave up less than that. So using that we would have won about 11 or 12 games. But we get to play against pat once again next year.
 
No we would have had all those players, but McMicheal's extension and other draft contract alterings would have not occured. Plus the room allowed us to trade Feeley this year and not put a heavy burden on this year.

I definitely missed Surtain this season......and still do. :( Our secondary could've used him this season. I wish we could've gotten rid of Howard instead! :yell: I think he's a goner after this season, though.

No...if we had still had Marino or even Fiedler tho, we make the playoffs...
 
I don't think it would have made much difference if we had Pat this season.........

Hey, you can't edit my quotes !! LOL...but I still feel that Fiedler wasn't as bad as we give him credit for. However, I'd be the first to say that I'm glad that era is over for us...
 
Surtain counted over $6M against the cap. Without trading him, we would not have been able to afford Traylor, Carter, Holliday. etc.
