We had played three games before this one in which we commiited ten or more penalties. Sure there were concerns amongst the boards, but we were still 2-1 and there was still a lot of optimism. If we pulled out a win here, wouldn't it just have furthered our lack of attention to the INSANE amount of penalties being made and how costly they can be in trying to win?
By breaking the franchise record in penalties, this game displayed how costly penalties are, and how much they really can hinder a season. There is just no way Saban and crew allows this to continue, it was outright embarassing.
I dont believe there is any such thing as a "good" loss. I still remember the rationalizing taking place after we lost to the Texans in the season opener some time ago, saying things like "this was just a wake up call" or "at least we got a bad loss out of the way early." This was a bad loss, period. But its sets up a chance to see how this new teams, both coaches and players, react to a complete mental breakdown.
